Go here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,59120.0.html) and follow the manual installation instructions in the first post.  And by all means, do not use Turey's installer, as it has a nasty habit of corrupting several necessary .vp files.

1. Welcome.
2. This is GenDisc. This is a question better asked on the support board (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/board,151.0.html), or in the FreeSpace Conversion (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/board,39.0.html) board.
3. This (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,47640.0.html) will tell you how to correctly install FreeSpace Open.
4. This (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,58357.0.html) will tell you how to install the FSPort.
5. This (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,59120.0.html) will tell you how to install ST:R.

Follow these steps in exactly that order, and you will be fine. Skip one, and enjoy the ensuing problems.

Just use Turey's Installer. It's fixed up. Click 'FreeSpace Open Installer' up at the top.

I'm sorry, but I did not understand that request.
If you have retail FS2 installed, download the installer (http://www.fsoinstaller.com/), run it, and let it install ST:R and the FSPort for you. Note that you absolutely NEED the FSPort to play ST:R. I would also recommend getting the fsport mediavps while you're at it.

I am very sorry to hear that. But ST:R isn't "one mod". It's a campaign for a mod (the FSPort), packaged as a mod because it introduces a few new weapons. So, in order to play it, you need:
1) Retail FS2
2) The FSport
and optionally
3) The mediavps
4) The FSPort mediavps.

2, 3 and 4 can be installed by using the installer, or by following the manual instructions I linked to earlier.

You shouldn't need to 'put' them anywhere. They install to your Freespace 2 directory, no? Already where they need to be.

 :wtf:

No. Run the installer, then run the Launcher, select the appropriate executable, enable the features you want in the launcher.

Then hit 'apply' and 'run'.

Use the 'mod' tab to select mods like ST:R.

You're going to need to post screenshots.

Run a debug build, get the fs2open log from your /FreeSpace2/data/ directory, and post it up here as well.

Select a build ending in -d or -debug in the launcher. Preferably 3.6.10 debug.

Now go into FreeSpace 2/data/, get the fs2open log, and post it here.
