Title: The FSO Installer Has Been Fixed
Post by: Goober5000 on August 11, 2009, 09:46:14 pm
Many of you know that the FSO Installer hasn't been working very well lately, as it used to download corrupted versions of the mediavp files and out-of-date FSO releases.  Turey, the installer administrator, hasn't had time to keep it up to date as much as we all would like.

Fortunately, Turey has been gracious enough to allow the Source Code Project staff access to his site, and the first of many improvements was made yesterday.  The installer should now download the proper, uncorrupted, versions of its files.  All you "ban Turey's installer" troublemakers can put your picket signs away now. :p

More improvements will be forthcoming in the future, including a complete overhaul of the installer code which is currently in progress.  Later releases will include MD5 and SHA error checking, support for 7-zip, a better GUI interface, and more.  The anticipated release date for the new installer is concurrent with version 3.6.11 of the SCP.

Uh, no.  Wait until the new version comes out. :)

Hm, there are several options.

The Collada PCS2 version is still...hm...buggy.
The max exporter plugin is nowhere to be seen.
...a.s.o.

Not that i say we should start anything here...just throwing out some ideas. :P

The Blue Planet vps are out of date. You need to get them manually from the release thread (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,61406.0.html).

On behalf of Darius I have requested Blue Planet to be removed from both the installer and FreeSpaceMods.

3.6.10 compatible re-release of Blue Planet: Age of Aquarius is still in beta and will be added back to the installer once final has been released. Until then the only supported download links are those the BP staff provide in the BP board.
