hey everyone.
i just got FS2 3.6.10 working on my macbook and it was working very nicely until i got to the clash of the titans 2 mission. the loading screen comes up as usual but the game freezes and when i exit the program it gives me an error message that looks something like this:
Error- SM3-09.fs2 (line 989)
Error- required token = [#wings] or [#name] , found
[+ respawn priority: 0]
i'm sorry if this isn't enough info to fix the problem, but if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using 3.6.10 final? Where/when/how did you get that mission?

This has been fixed.

hey thank you for the quick responses. to answer your questions i am using the 3.6.10 final and i got to it earlier today by just playing through the game, accepting all the secret operations along the way and before i knew it i got to that mission and i wouldnt load. i also tried the fix and that didnt work either. its frustrating but it got me thinking maybe the mac version of the game stores the mission files in a different place than the windows version? maybe i can replace the corrupt mission file with the new one?

And no, no matter what version you are using, the missions are always stored in the same place. Put the fixed mission into <FS Directory>/mediavps/data/missions.
-
yea.. i tried it for the third time and it didnt work. where are the mission files stored?
-
Go to the directory containing your mediavps. Go to the data directory found there (if it doesn't exist, create it). Create a missions directory inside of that. Put the mission in there.
-
still doesnt work
-
Run a debug build. Try to load that mission. Then find the debug log (it's called fs2_open.log, unfortunately I do not know where you will find that on a Mac), and post it here.
-
On Mac, the debug log (fs2_open.log) can be found in ~/Library/FS2_Open/data/

I got exactly the same error as GNARLYBRO got. I copied the fixed mission to ${fs_dir}/mediavps/data/missions and it worked until the cruisers began to jump out—than the game crashed.
Error message:
ERROR: "Invalid point. In sexpression: ( < ( distance "Jump Node right:1" "Duamutef" ) 300 ) (Error appears to be: Duamutef)" at mission/missionparse.cpp:6096
If I try to start the mission again, the game crashes emediatly (same error message).
(for full debug-log file see attachment)

Really? Try this one, then.

Thanks for the quick answer. But the game still crashes with the same error message. :-/

It is entirely possible that the Pilot file has already cached the bad version.
There will be a notice with the patch once it is released (which will be as soon as the VP is validated as good) that will inform people to either restart the Campaign, or Clone their existing pilots for a new Campaign in SP to clear this issue.

Ok, it worked after all (The E’s last advice). I don’t know what i’ve did wrong the first try …
Recht herzlichen Dank, The E. :)
