Hey guys, Cain class cruisers are used very often as well as destroyers and other big ships. Do you guys usually name them each individually, or can you have just standard names or designations? Should I just leave them without names?
-
it's up to you, but naming them is way cooler
-
Yeah, I'd much rather be fighting the SC Necris than the SC Cain 12. But I guess :v: got away with it with the Sathanas.

well who is going to name 87 Sathanas juggernaugts? not like they had better things to do :p

Terran-Vasudan ships always need names, considering Terrans always have the "naming cerimony", I assume Vasudans would too, or else Terrans would give them names. Shivans however, are given the name of Terran designations, it helps you remember them, specially if they appear in more then one mission. However, it really helps the mission and the campaign if you give everything a name. Its not that hard really.
General rule of thumb is a craft should never have a number in it unless its part of a wing. Additionally, names should never be duplicated (exception of wing names), and the crafts type should never be its name... unless its a first encouter of an enemy vessel, or its a one of a kind allied vessel (Colossus, etc)

yeah, for exemple, if they built another colossus, it would be called, say, GTJ SuckBadly, Colossus class juggernaught, just like you have the GTD Bastion, Orion class destroyer.
-
Well, if you name every cruiser in a game, you tend to run out of names after a while.
-
why? you don't have to follow any naming convention, you can call a deimos, say, Santa Maria, and another one Anihilator :D
There's no way you can run out of names :)
-
Ive used alot of names in FC, you can get them from almost anywhere, from names of ancient gods, tribes, significant individuals, cities, food, elements, action words, almost any object, current ships, girlfriends, etc.
-
I currently have Ironhawk, Dragon, Titan, Red Claw, Black Claw, Annihalator, Death Angel. Now I'm starting to call ships Bob, Marvin, Bruce... :P

If the project wasn't such a failure, they would probably build others, and so it would not be a one of a kind ship anymore. You know the very first orion was a... yeah! a one of a kind ship. Droofus, ever heard about prototypes?

I think the Colossus is actually more of a superdestroyer (based on briefings and stuff), but it does fit into the juggernaut category in terms of size and performance.
And, Stargunner, that original post was uncalled for.

Vader, that rude comment defines the reason why I will be a millionar in a few years and you will be still sitting here, calling people that ask questions stupid to make yourself feel superior to them. Rude statements only make me grow stronger and fight harder for my future and asking questions is how I feed my brain more information so that I can complete this task. There's some food for thought.

I really don't think anyone was dissing you for the question, we're very nice people you know :) (Okay fine, most of the time - but us moderators are angelic, genial people with good intention in our hearts :p) Vader was't making any rude comments about your question (as you can see he actually awnsered it) I just think he took your... joke too seriously.
So cool down

Youd DO know that the collosus is just a big freighter they but some guns on:D
they should have made the Vasudan super carrier instead... alot better looking

So one of the big ships is to be dreaded and the other should be juggled! :D (I know, lame pun :p)
