Let me guess, ETAK was really a garbage disposal system? "I demand unfettered access to this garbage scow!" So that's why Bosch was in Deneb...

Hopefully it's not as painfully slow as the trash compactors in the Death Star...

I'd avoid making the Shivans actually talking... maybe hint that they're communicating, but not writing what they're saying...

The Ancients travelled subspace for many many years before the encountered the Shivans and in that time they found many other races and wiped them out. Maybe one of these races had developed a form of subspace travel that was extremely advanced but they didn't have the sheer firepower to defend themselves. The Shivans wipe out the Ancients but schematics for the advanced drives survive and Bosch hands them to the Shivan science ships (Saths. All that internal space had to be for something) who then proceed to unleash the wierd green subspace travelness in Capella, in exchange for not wiping out the GTVA. Then either the Shivans nuke Capella to prevent the GTVA keeping sensors of the advanced ss-drives or Bosch booby trapped the schematics.

Nice, very nice. I've already started it, I started it a while ago as a school project, so I only write a little bit at a time in my journal for English class. I'm following the storyline of a fighter pilot in the GTVA who gets drafted into the SOC to go into the NTF and yes, he does meet Snipes and he flys the first NTF mission. Then the similarity ends. He needs to find out about the ETAK project, which SOC and GTVI thinks may have something to do with the reason that suddenly, NTF capital ships have shields...:D
