I was doing some tests for animations with these beams from Darkage (slightly modified by me ;7 ). So here they are......... tell me what you think

(note: they don't have warmups yet )

Pretty good, except I think they need to be bigger and a bit less "fuzzy"..
Hooray for the Odin!

Setekh, update my subtitle... now :D

I'll leave it at that... :D

You did a good job on those beams;)
All i realy need to know in LW now how to do volumetric explosions whit Hypervoxels 3 that comes in LW7..

Magic...
Gah, damned if I know how, been trying for months...

I couldn't resist. :drevil:
You're one of the few people whose title I'd change when they asked. Just because you're too darn good at too much stuff. :p
Enjoy the new title... titles. :D

I know how to use the Particle emitter and the other stuff like wind, and collision stuff thats not to hard and i know some small bits here and there about Hypervoxels to make them look like real particles...but indeed those volumetric explosions are a pain in the but to find out.

you want VOLUMIC explosions on a DESKTOP machine.
volumes and machines under the dual athlon/dual Xeon spec just dont mix i'm afraid.
If you want realistic volumetric fire effects you're looking at 8 hours+ a frame plus the time it take to set up a particle system to do what you want it to.
Volumes are a nice idea but they take way too long in practise to render for production schedules. Nice as a study in how to waste processor cycles though.
What i'd suggest you do is find some explosion animations and opacity-map them onto a primitive...and just have them play when you need to.
Failing that...just put an explosion in as a glow effect on some particles (i think lightwaves' renderer can motion blur glow effects) with one volume light in the middle. That could give a nice effect.
just whatever you do - DONT TRY VOLUMETRIC EXPLOSIONS.
they take forever
they look crap
they're hard to setup.

i've used volumetrics before hehe but it does take forever if its on any scale but missiles trials and stuff i always use voluemtrcs
but hehehe soon i wont need to worry
i'm ordering a dual 1800+ with 1024mb ddr ram and a geforce 4 mowwwwwwhahhahahaaa i cant wait hehhe
