Title: Shinemap/Env-map problems with Blue Planet
Post by: The E on August 26, 2009, 06:32:06 am
Okay, has anyone else seen problems similar to these? I'm trying to determine whether they are issues with the BP data, or just my Gfx card being crappy.

For reference, I'm using a Radeon X1250 on Windows 7. Since it's a Notebook, updating the card is for all intents and purposes impossible.
I have also gone back as far as I could (the Catalyst 7.1 drivers) to see if the problem was a driver issue, but it seems to always be present.

mmm probably an ati issue, I've played the hole campaign with the latest 3.6.10 patch and all went smoothly, no visual or mission issues to report.

could you test this very same files on an nvidia card? if you are able of course.

If I could test it, I wouldn't have made this thread....

Haven't seen them. On an HD 4870.

I found the map that was causing the problem. No idea what's wrong with it, but: When I view it in Microsoft's DirectX texture tool and Irfanview, I see the content. In Paint.Net, however, it shows up as totally transparent.

There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it. :nervous:

Do you mean that you can see solid, opaque bluish image with the two former tools, and a transparent with Paint.Net?

If so, try and see if Paint.Net simply shows the image as the alpha channel tells it to. It has very dark alpha channel, but there's a difference between transparent and nearly transparent...

(After some checking) Yep, it does exactly that.

Herra was kind enough to provide a fix as well, so if you suffer from the same problem, download this (http://www.mediafire.com/?yzhdtmidmmj) and extract it to blueplanet\data\maps. Seems to have been just some weirdness with the card and that particular card.

May I suggest to take this into the troubleshoot sticky thread?
