actually, i figured id take some of the work off of Steak's shoulders and do this one myself. You can see more of my 158th models in the 158th forum.

Text...blur...hurts...eyes... aghhh!!!
Nice model
:)
-
change your label font.
Oh, and DAMN but my geometry looks good. ;)
-
Nice Spikes there  :D
That looks like a threat - like spikes you get impaled on ;)

Mmm, spiffed up x-wing  (gotta love blue textures!)
take that text blur off though - it doesn't really help. I think it'd look better without. :)
-
at least it will survive longer, her enemies won't be able to stand looking at her, and choose a less... blurred target.
-

err, blur, not getting the effect im looking for. gonna play with the settings for a while
EDIT: the models arent blurred, only the text. The models are simply transparent.
-
This one is nice - kinda like a B-Wing and yet quite different. Sweet :D
I like the Bomber best... BTW: what's the desired effect on that text?
But then, that Shivan fighter is sweet, I can't decide :D

trying to get that Setekh-ified text effect that the Steak uses on his model portaits, on the terran ones anyhow. The Kali was supposed to be a test of text gradients.
EDIT: a bit of trivia- the Atlas was originally conceived as a Legos model. Ironically, all the pieces of the original Atlas model came from a B-Wing set. Model was originally called the Raptor.
-
You mean that semi-blurred glowish effect? Try this: make a new semi-transparent layer with glowing, blurred text and put it over the original text... I don't know if that'd produce something you like...
-
Kinda like this? (prolly not...)
-
thats pretty much it
-
Well for this I took the text - duplicated it (and colored it) into a new layer then distorted it so it would kind of go around the original text. Then I just made it semi-transparent with opacity measure things... Something akin to that should produce something like what I did. Although a cheap rip off of the classic "Steak Effect" ;)
BTW: I know there are better ways of doing this but they don't come to mind at the moment...
-
Way much blur.... (reads stuff about layers and blur effects posted below )
Oh well...
-
Looking good! Blur on the models is fine since they're WIP but the text really shouldn't need it at all...
-
All of the models are nice; the texturing on the first one looks quite good too. The blur makes it a bit hard to see though. ;)
-
Too... much... blur...
-
You should use les blur:nod:
-
the models ARE NOT BLURRED! they're transparent. Only the text is blurred.
-
hey, did someone mention your text was blurry?

Yes they are... :D
Just look at the edges. They're fuzzy. That's called blur. :D
-
:yes::yes:The models are great but...
When are you going to post my nebulas? :D
Oh and has anybody told you that the text is blurry? ;)
-
I really like the Kali, that is really cool! I would love to see that in a dogfight.
But you should use less blur.. :P
-
Corsair, how many times do i have to tell you? get your own server and post them yourself.
As for the models: The models are not blurred, only the text. The models i got straight from a screenshot in TS.

I'm too lazy :p and anyway, how? I seem to be forever logged in to the 158th on geocities and where else?

Done. I won't bother you anymore about it. :D Yay! :)
-
with a few texturing changes. Yes, the model is slightly blurred (used a minimal setting to get rid of the jagged lines)

Aha! So you confess you were adding blur to the models! :D:ha:
-
Very nice. The blur on the text would be fine if the original, crisp-edged text remained in some way shape or form, but it doesn't... ;) But it's really not that bad. The ship looks sweet. I like your take on it; well done. :)
(The load off my shoulders is appreciated)

Only on the last one, if you look carefully, you'll see that those lines that are the edges of polys are a lot less visible on it compared to the others.
Setekh: i see...going to be playing around with the text for a while.
-
I know, I was just bugging you. Don't mind me that much... ;)

Send me your text on a white background, and a ship on its own. I'll show you what I mean. ;)

EEK. Can we kill that font and its blur? She look's good though. I'd like to see a non-transparent version though. Oh, and that should say 'Naga', or 'Ruhk', but not 'Ruhkferret'

The font may be okay, but the blur just pushes it off the edge. Add the text into a different layer, or don't blend it into the background before you apply your blur. It's not that hard.

[psst] magic wand [/psst] I always blur the text separately and rather excessively. Then I blur the whole thing just a tad to get rid of any rough lines (i have a thing against lines that show up rough and disconnected.

Use anti-aliased text, it's way better than blur. :)
-
Yeah, blurring can hurt some ppl's eyes.
