4 Days into FRED + Windows Platform and I have produced this...

At 1800 Hours, red alert was sounded and you ran to the hanger to repel a possible Shivan attack... What happens after is all up to you...

Needs more starfield.pof. Set that in the background editor under 'skybox model'; just type it, no need to browse.

Not up to playing anything right now, but...

He needs MVPs in general it looks like- at the very least, use lightspeed backrounds etc. Dunno if it's a matter of your computer can't run the Medivps.
Also, Felix, in FRED, go into help->help topics. Read the stuff in there. Really helped me out when I started. If you have any FRED specific questions, the guys of the FRED board here would be glad to help. Theres also some more tutorials and stuff on that board if you want to check them out.

We discussed this mission in depth on IRC, with Felix being there and taking notes. As a first mission, there's worse. However, several of the key features that make missions enjoyable (Events, Objectives, Backgrounds, Banter) simply aren't present.

I remember my first. :P
And then the first one I posted, after playing with FRED for about year.

Okay, since I know that you must be overflowing with advice from the IRC channel guys, I'll note only one thing:
There are way too many ships. Work with fewer ships. I know that space stations are supposed to be defended very heavily, but there's a reason why you cannot see battles of such intensity in the main campaign. Remove some unnecessary ships like some of the cruisers and the Alastors. Concentrate on those few ships that remain there.

That's what she said... :p
TopAce gave good advice on ships. If a ship is present, be able to justify why it is absolutely needed. Then if you end up with 15 cruisers, go for it. I'm still learning FRED, very slowly because of RL time constraints, but that was one thing that made my life easier when I figured it out.

For those not on IRC, I am Loo. (I finally did something worth noting!)

Updated again. Objects removed, should be less laaaag.
