Ok, I go to plug in my new iPod. Computer's on, the other end is plugged into the iPod. I start to plug in the USB, and my computer shuts off for no reason. I finish plugging it in, and turn on my computer. Then I noticed: My iPod's screen is blank white. The whole thing- wiped. I tried to trouble fix it by reading the thing online. In the process, I wound up unplugging it and plugging it back in several times- same story. Then I notice that if the USB end gets NEAR the computer, as in several inches away from the USB port, the thing shuts off. So I plug it in while the computer is off, and everything works fine. iPod restored.
WHAT. THE. HELL.

There's your problem.

Static maybe?
-
That's what it sounded like

Is your PC grounded? Are all three prongs on the cord intact?
-
grounded?
Oh, and it just happened again. :ick:
-
Look at the power cord. Are all of the prongs (3) intact on both ends?
-
[sarcasm again] I love the "I" products..... you got the "IRack" as well? :P [/ sarcasm terminated]

No offense intended, but this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Tq7yykR-DM) is all I could think about while reading that.

It's funny because I can't talk without using my hands.
Oh wait, its not.

Titan: Step 1: check prongs on cord, are they intact? If so damn, the easy route is closed for bridge construction.
Step 2: find something cheap like a memory stick and see if your USB fries it. If yes, have your computer's wiring checked. If no proceed to step 3
Step 3:Wrap your iPod in monkey **** and fling it at Steve Jobs.
-
Maybe it's just me, but I thought StarForce, before I thought static. Something else to look into, if the wiring checks out.
-
Well, at least you have a brick-making machine
