(http://www.fattonys.com/images/158neb.jpg)Comments? I'm mainly focusing on the nebulas here since I need to do some better ones for the campaign (Narol said mine all looked the same just in different colors  ).
Any other comments would be helpful though.
AND I KNOW THAT THE FIGHTERBAY IS ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE GTD HAYDON! :( It's a glitch in 3DE...something that I don't know how to fix.
Can I have this in my gallery too? :)

The nebula looks good, but I'd suggest a little more light on the front of the ships

That is a super..red x. Geocities suck badly. I just use homestead, 8megs free and no hassle.
-
Yeah, actually I'm seeing a red x too but I figured that it's just my computer...:D
EDIT: link to homestead?

i like it, i suggest adding some more light on the right side of the ships because you do have a star right behind them on that side...;)
EDIT: perhaps some effect on the text, i like it though, ph3@r

If you want a particular something hosted - contact me (if it's freespace related, I'll be happy to. Images only though) at [email protected] although PM would be better.
-
Corsair, if you want to flip the orion, just render everything on the other side, so you get a mirror image of this, then open up the image and flip it manually.
EDIT: just noticed how the top three threads here are all 158th pimping threads

Can't see much of anything on that pic, but it creates a feeling of... threat. I like it.

If it wasn't for the fact those ships appear to be Ulysses.
;7
Still, nice nebula and good ambient lighting... although that big capship (which looks like to be an Orion) could do with some luminosity maps for the hull-lights, etc.

Argh! Bats! Run!! :D

No. DO NOT. It looks perfect as it is - nice, dark, stealthy. Things are a lot easier to fear when you don't know exactly what they are. The lighting is good considering that you have two local stars providing glare and frontal darkening from within the FOV. What is not good, though, are the huge edges on your ships, and the clunky text, which is not necessary - and could be done up to further the 'fear' effect even more. But you can do that... later. ;)
Oh, and, ahem, hosting?

The sun looks way much like an engine glow. Otherwise    . BTW, if we were talking about nebulae, then a small 10-minute attempt for a nebulae-thingy.
www.angelfire.com/wv/tituswolf/Startrek2b.avi . Just copy-paste it.

You're only dissing the Ulysses because you could never master it :p In swarms those little things are deadly, went through 5 full squads of shivans with only 1 loss.

In swarms?! what use is it when your on in you own in a nebula with 5 wings of Shivans on yer arse, then?
Valkyrie was & is much better, anyway. Or the Herc, if you want firepower over speed.

Heh I just got back online after sleeping and having some classes now I'll edit it so you can delete it. Thanx an0n!
Oh! I just remembered! They are the Ulysses models, but they're supposed to be Banshees. I would have put them in but the Banshee isn't finished yet :(

I forgot that *some* people have their monitor at 200% brightness :p To me, it looked like a big black...thing. Not an Orion.
My biggest suggestion is to move that star or do something with the Ulysses, because I just realized it's not an amateur attempt at an engine glow. :doubt:

My monitor is set at 50% brightness, 50% contrast and it is perfectly visible to me. High clarity monitors are better, silly... :p

Mine too, I have "weak" eyes.
But you know, you have to overcome your fear of the dark, and... huh, never mind :nervous:
I think it looks great save for the sun

Yeah, what is dodgy is when you're on a school computer and you can barely see what's going on. I have a sw33t monitor back home... Mmmm, Flatron. :D
-
lol, I have an old crap a Targa 17"
It's so old the plastic is yellow now :p

Ouch. :D
My monitor's 2 years old... I think the oldest one in the house was bought in '88 or '89... when I was about 3 years old. ;)
-
That nebula looks simply great; definitely conveys a nice and dark mood. ;)
I basically have three monitors in my house:
13-inch 640x480x8 - 1990 :D
19-inch 1600x1200x32 - 1998
21-inch 1920x1440x32 - 2001 (this is the one I normally use)
I have noticed the same problem with all the monitors and graphics cards I have tried; most games are completely unplayable due to the fact that things are too dark to see anything. I can alter the brightness/contrast levels, but that makes things look sort of "washed out" and worse in general. My brother doesn't have any problem though, so I guess it's just my eyes. :p (my vision is terrible in terms of nearsightedness, but I guess I have trouble with brightness too :D)

I envy you. ;) I have the 14in from '88; a 15in from '93, a 17in from '97 and my current 17in flat from 2000. But you have a 21-?! Uhhh, where do you live again? Do you lock your doors? ;)

ONLY a 70in? :p

Bah, as if it makes that big of a difference...
* curses own 15in piece of crap *
-
1996 Packard Bell 14in...still works fine and can even support 1208*800
-
Some 15' thing, from 1999. Got it with the PC, which I upgraded a few times, but didn't really care about the monitor, because of the $$$.
-
nice render - i'd lose the second star or make it smaller or something and the amin one not behind the ship throw in the 45 point streak
