Title: Request: Use of ships/weapons

Hello,

I intend to use several ship models and weapons from TBP in my future mods, namely all Minbari ships and the EA primary weapons. Since I'm not sure wether the contents of TBP are free for use in non-TBP mods, I wanted to have asked first.

I am afraid we can't really give you that permission. None of TBP's assets are supposed to be used outside of TBP unless the creator of said asset gives his or her permission. I am not sure who of the original modellers created the ships you are asking for but I am sure somebody around here knows.
You need to ask them personally, until then, the answer is saddly no since I can't speak for those people.

I don't think that all those people are registered here. Because I'd like to take all the Minbari stuff except the weapons and some additional planet models (you really have very nice backgrounds!!). :)

I did the sharlin and I did a nail, though I think it got replaced at some point, though the models looked nearly identical so I'm not sure, Tomcat did the tinashi, and I think he did the minbari transport.

you can make or modify anything I made so long as you give appropriate credit.

I believe any publicly released assets can be used by non-affiliated people as long as original source is properly credited. This really should be acknowledged by any author when they release their work to the general public independently or within a mod. Otherwise this goes against spirit of the community we're all part of. And I think we already covered this during the IPAndrews Incident, did we not?

Yes and that was the conclusion that we came to.  The assets could be used for any TBP mods but needed the original creators consent for use in other mods.  Remember IPA claimed all assets as his and denied use of them.  Since we have no idea who did what we really can't give anyone an answer other then find who actually did it and ask.

We won't discuss the subject or inccident further, alright? :rolleyes: If anybody starts warming that up again, this thread is closed quicker than a Minbari Neutron beam cuts through an escape pod.

That's definitely not my intention. Just wanted to know what's going on. ;-) Meanwhile, I also PMed tomcat to ask if I may use his stuff. But it looks like he'd be rather inactive atm.
