Planning one for halloween on the 30th of October. Express interest now. This is enough notice. We wanna see Flipside this time. . . .
-
[groans at the title]
I don't know if i can make the Friday either...I'll get back to you
-
Just for the record, how many people are there in London from HLP??
It is nice to know that their are others like me close by :)
-
At least four regular attendees. One's in china, but there are dozens in London i think.
-
At least four regular attendees. One's in china, but there are dozens in London i think.
Cool. Also what kind of ages (yeah I know that sounds weird but I'm 16, just wondering if I'm kinda young for this sort of thing)
-
Ummmmmmmmmm.......
Every meet we've had involved pubs and hard liquor, so it depends on:
A- Whether you can pass for 18 :pimp:
B- Whether your parents are cool with it/willing to chaperone ;)
C- Whether you know 18 year old females you can bring ;7
D- Whether you want to talk with a load of 18 to 30 something year old people :D
-
16 is a push. Really does come down to how old you look. Town pubs are a lot more arsey about that stuff than village ones, and they all seem to be stricter now than they were.
And yeah, it is a pretty awful title. I was a little drunk and tired.
-
I can always change it.
Post your ideas.
Or we could do a day meet in hyde / Regents park on a weekend. Beer's allowed (i think?) but lack of toilets would be super awkward.
-
I'm gonna un-sticky this in a week due to lack of immediate interest/proposed attendance.
-
I'm actually interested, but i cant make ANY friday or Saturday in October...
Would it be possible to request a re-arrangement for Friday 6th of November?
-
Ummm... anytime in early November is pretty good for me really. Was offline for a while being busy and ill. Looks like we mighta missed the good weather to do a parky thing this year.
We could always be civilised and go to a restaurant if we have an under 18er.
No news from anyone else in the area except young Stu?
-
Any films out soon?
-
Watched District 9 a couple weeks ago, which was good. Would've suggested that if I hadn't already been. Was good though.
I like my movies dumn and full of effects, so maybe Surrogates or 2012? No idea if they are meant to be any cop.
-
Bah, we've got a while to plan something.
Come on Terran Emperor! We need input!
(On that note i apologise for not knocking out a few more paragraphs of "Long Patrol" :nervous:
-
It really comes down to the other guys, doesn't it? Given where we work, we hardly need to plan anything at all anymore.
I take it we've heard nothing from Flipside or Wolfie? Looks like next time'll be you, me, mini-me, TE, and maybe Stuey if we avoid pubs (WTF is all that "gotta be 21", "gotta be 25" **** anyway?)
As for Long Patrol, you really ought to make sure your ideas don't get stuck in your head and never get out. That whole Nova Imperia thing sounded like a pretty cool idea.
-
Don't worry, i'll get it out of my head at some point. . . I need to buy that netbook. Would make writing it out easier.
There are usually some free venues around London Bridge this time of year, i'll have a google when I get a chance.
-
2012 looks pretty good and fairly brainless. :)
Also, yeah I could, maybe, pass as 18, maybe with some ID, if you catch my drift.
What kinda days were you thinking of
-
Some unspecified Friday night in November, it looks like. I'm kinda thinking a chow-down would work on this occasion. All it would take is one arsehole of a bouncer getting funny about how old people look and the night would be ruined if we went for a piss-up.
Maybe even movie then food, or vice versa. I'm getting too old and grumpy for hangovers anyway. Plus TE gets dangerous when he's drunk... ;)
-
Hmmmm, fridays could be a problem for me, damn late school.
I guess I could finish early, but any chance of a Saturday?
-
Saturdays are good for me
-
Well shall we try to get a concrete date set?
Tends to help things actually happen. :)
-
I was originally hoping for the friday near halloween. But it turns out i'm double booked from a while back, early summer in fact. So i'll leave it to you chaps to decide.
-
Saturday 31st is out for me (going Brasilian)...
Any other night looks free so far. If we're doing a movie then lets call it soon so no-one goes to see it ahead of time.
-
I don't mind anyway. Most of my recent pub bought copies are pony at the moment. Imaginarium is about the only thing i've not seen. But I've not been cinema since Rambo. So i'm up for any film. Except chick flick / rom com.
-
Sex and the City 2: This Time it'll Really Suck is off the menu then?
-
Depends on whether that was a prediction or a sub-title. Lol.
That crazy Samantha.
:nervous: my ex made of watch it once.
-
That is a worrying prospect. :D
Also 7th Nov or the 28th Nov good for anyone?
-
Because you mentioned them here, they're automatically available. But I finish late at the end of the working week. Don't ask.
-
Probably could do a Saturday, but just how late does your school finish Stu? Are you sure you couldn't get into town around 6pm?
-
Those dates are good for me, as are the days...but better wait for stu to get back to us...
Hmmm...Still no word from Flipside or the Wolfmeister...Once we've agreed on a date shall I PM them?
-
The problem is that I go to St Albans School so it takes an hour to get back. On Fridays I do CCF (I do it for DofE so I can't really miss it) so I get home a 7, not really a great time. Sorry if this causes problems for anyone.
Anyway I would say the 28th would be good.
-
I guess its the 28th then guys...
-
I'm all grown up, date doesnt matter as long as it's in line with my late finish statement. Mcall? you good?
PS- let me know which weekday it falls on as i'm a meticulously clockwork person. And to be honest, i'm all monged out right now. I mewt up wt my dad, .. . . . .. i'df call him. MAjor General Dewkker, as he's all beer three times as much as i am. :D
-
Well it's a Saturday.
So are we all set on the 28th?
Also shall we get an attendance list?
-
Yes, you handle that, for one...I'm for it on the 28th.
Suggestion of Ong Bak, in lieu of Transformers three or Independance Day two getting released i'm for Ong Bak
-
Dare i ask how sober you are at time of posting Dek?
-
100% pure unadulterated booze free.
-
That looks like fun. :D :D
Ok so people going: Stuart133
Colonel Dekker
Terran Emperor
McCall ?
Anyone else coming??
-
Well IPAndrews wont be coming. He's one of the HLP Londoners, but after a major falling out with Karajorma, he's sworn to boycott these meetings...
EDIT
I've just PM flipside and and the wolfmeister. If they're interested, we'll hear from them soon
PS Dek, I was refering to this Post:
PS- let me know which weekday it falls on as i'm a meticulously clockwork person. And to be honest, i'm all monged out right now. I mewt up wt my dad, .. . . . .. i'df call him. MAjor General Dewkker, as he's all beer three times as much as i am. :D
was that drunken posting or just bad keypadding on your phone? :D
-
Oh . . .that one!
Yeah, I was probably two pints away from entering the 'mystery zone' there. . . Should check dates though ;)
-
Nice double post. :D
Also just out of interest where is Karajorma based??
-
What double post?
Karajormas working in China for fifteen years :nervous: He'll be back in a giant robot or with a few kids in tow.....
-
Yea yea, nice cover up.
Also lol :D :D
-
28th November right?
-
Yea, that's the plan
-
Apologies for my apparent MIA, Rupert Murdoch's villianous Neo-BSB-Front had involved my house losing internet for near enough 4 weeks, and recently, I've had no interest in browsing the internet due to very anti-social shifts. I have no idea on 1st November, let alone 23rd, so I shall keep you informed on new fronts.
GALATEA OUT.
-
Not that i like to correct an Admiral (Then again, i am an emperor so i have that perogative :D) but it's the 28th Nov we're meeting on, not the 23rd
-
Well IPAndrews wont be coming. He's one of the HLP Londoners, but after a major falling out with Karajorma, he's sworn to boycott these meetings...
Even though I'm on the other side of the planet?
HARDCORE! :p
-
That's the impression i got when i PMed him when Galemp came over.
Dek's comments at one of our later meetings lead me to believe he still hasn't changed his tune
-
Screw IPA screw him in the head with an axe in fact. His loss, if you're reading this Ian nothing personal, it's only the internet :p
I was thinking, my little bro is getting dragged along to this whether he wants to come or not. . . .
Filmwise, Ong bak is all good and well but 9, and 2012 look better who knows, maybe a film without numbers as a title will be out by the time we meet up. So between the two what do you want to watch? Also, imax anyone?
-
Ahhh! so this is the infamous HLP London that always gets Dekker rat-arsed whenever he goes............WAIT WHAT!? Don't i get a choice in the matter! Oh well it seems like a laugh, and i guess it couldn't hurt, unless Dekker tries to set me up with a fat chick :shaking:
-

WAIT WAT
Ong-Bak is infinitely superior to these two films.
-
9 was apparently rather disappointing, and 2012 looks like deargodno unless you go for teh lulz. :p
-
I say 2012 if we want to point and laugh while giving comments from the peanuts gallery and Ong-Bak if we want to do something else
-
I don't mean to piss in the preverbial cornflakes but. . . . I can't make that weekend anymore. I've been back with my old army boss for one whole day and he signed me up for the regimental xmas do at Butlins which coincides with that date.
By all means continue on with it i'm sure it'll be as interesting as number nine was.
-
28th was just plucked out of someone's ass though, wasn't it? I'm cool with another day.
Waddya say guys?
PS on the movie front, I gotta admit I'm not big on martial arts stuff. If the general mood is to go for OB, I'll go along with it, but I'd rather do dumb-woth-special-FX. My tuppence.
We're gonna go eat too right? Hungry Hippo McCall likes eating.
-
I'd rather do dumb-woth-special-FX. My tuppence.
^that...
We're gonna go eat too right? Hungry Hippo McCall likes eating.
and that...
-
Firespawn? Who was that Firespawn fellow that dropped in here a few posts ago? Is he another HLP London guy I haven't met?
-
My 17 year old brother who recently joined HLP, and fgloods the IRC channel with spam. Like an asshat.
-
Well what about the week before?
21st Nov
or the week after?
5th Dec?
-
Probably after as i'll need to save cash for the event.
So . . . . What film, where we watching and how much will it cost?
-
okay 5th Dec it is.
I dont mind the film.
-
Righto. 5th is okay for me too.
Hello FireSpawn/Dekker Jr!
As far as movies go, it's slim pickings for that date. I guess it all depends on how long the cinema runs go - we'll have to find out nearer the time.
If we've got a couple U18-ers coming along we'll definitely have to work around the asshole bouncer thing.
Dang, city rules suck.
-
So people who are underage can't even get into a pub? Huh. A few of the bars down at school, and at least one I know of around here, would generally check IDs at the door on Friday/Saturday nights and give out wristbands to those who were over 21 (obviously, I don't think they bothered if you looked 40 or older). Those who were underage could still get in just fine and order food, but they couldn't buy drinks.
-
My little bor is 17 but he's tall as f**k and already a bit stubbly.
He'll be ok as long as he keeps his choir boy mouth shut.......
-
First of all why does everyone call me Dekker Jr? Second of all Dekker, my voice has women frothing at the gash. :pimp:
Finally i don't really mind what goes on or what we do. Its all good.
-
Hey FireSpawn. The Dekker Jr thing was inevitable. We'll get over it soon enough. "Frothing at the gash" had me laughing into my milkshake.
Mongoose: It depends on where you are really, although things have taken on an increasingly authoritarian slant over the last few years. Back when I was a teenie out the wilds of Derbyshire, no-one batted an eyelid at us going in and having a few pints, just so long as we behaved respectfully. It was still illegal of course, but common sense seemed to prevail. Townie pubs tended to be a bit more up themselves, but the kind now that are pretentious enough to have an overweight Secret Service wannabe (complete with earpiece) on the door are the worst. Sadly that kind of attitude has noticably spread over the last ten or fifteen years.
****, you even get crap like "Challenge 25" now, meaning if you happen to look younger than SEVEN years past the legal buying age you can get turned away. Makes me glad I'm going grey!
-
Okay Firespawn. If you wanted to avoid the Dekker Jr moniker, you should not have mentioned that you were Dekker's little brother...
Just had a thought...Does Stuart know about the date change?
-
I do now, and it's a good thing too, my manager at work has sprung yet another Saturday on me from nowhere. Sorry about not replying earlier, have been in deep, dark Cumbria with no internet. :(
The thing is I am pretty sure I won't get into many London clubs, I don't look 21 sooo ....
-
Food or cinema or both it is then. Suits me fine.
BTW, any of you guys interested in X2: The Threat and X3: Reunion? I've had them floating around for ages since impulse buying from CEX, and despite my best efforts I've just not been able to take to them at all. Sort of a cross between space sim and RPG. If you want a freebie let me know and I'll bring them along next time.
-
I bought them all, and can't get into them either. I know there are some mods / savegames out there which give you a hell of a load of crap. But i'm yet to try em. I might run some bits and bobs off for ya now you mention it.
-
I got pretty frustrated playing those games, but the cheat scripts allowed me to bypass the boring starting bit. :) After that, with a huge facility and a giant fleet, it became better, :) but still not great.
-
Looked em up. I'm not a fan of games like that. Sorry
-
X3 has a Babylon 5 mod for it. . . . Just so's you know.
-
Oh, well...Actually im not sure i have enough room on my C Drive for it...
Wonder if the mod was based on that cancelled B5 game...
-
Soo, shall we get this thing organised fully now?
-
Go on then,
Sort out a checklist of goals /aims/ things to achieve
Ie
-film
-beer? (depends)
-food
-Profit
Run with it Stuart :wakka:
-
Right.
Film: 2012 seems good for a nice brainless action film. Running at cinemas in central London. (That is probably easiest for everyone to get there)
Beer: Yes please. :) No but srsly I can only order beer with food, so not sure about that
Food: Well what kind of food would everyone like??
-
Anything from burger king to a sit down meal will do. But this will dictate budget. Heck i'd be happy with a Wetherspoons 5 quid beer and burger deal.
-
Is that a case of "MORE BEER"? :D
-
I'm not on a student budget :p
-
Ah, screw you. :D
-
Can't believe I can't even give video games away... man were those a bad purchase.
Might have Sword of the Stars and Grand Prix 3 to offer up at some point. Now both of them are good. Anyone likely to be interested?
Food. Hard to go wrong with a curry. If we wanna try something different there's always the Brasilian Rodizio. Wave bye-bye to about £25 each and we all end up thoroughly stuffed, but good fun.
If 2012 is still running at the cinema by then I'd favour that.
-
Well I guess I can wave goodbye to £25, Brazilian Rodizio sounds good, :D.
Sooo, who is actually coming?
Stuart133
Colonel Dekker
McCall
terran_emporer
firespawn
admiral_wolf
I ... think?
-
I might be able to stretch to that for my bro and i. But I don't want to sit in a cinema with a load of blokes full of curry.
Those games, they weren't bad purchases, I bought them too :p
-
Yep, If we do curry I'll put Little Miss Tiny between you lot and me.
Are we leaning toward the Rodizio near Angel tube then?
-
Well, depending on what time we actually see the film, we could actually eat after it
Wait a minute, where we meeting?
-
Base it around these things...
http://www.talkingcities.co.uk/london_pages/entertainment_cinema.htm
-
Wow, cheers for that really helpful piece of advice Dekker, a cinema. :D :D Jks Jks.
-
I'm gonna clip you round the ear for that cheek.
I thought that'd give us a bit of choice regarding meet up point. Food pubs etc. For the record i'm good for zones one to three. Anywhere suits me as long as it's cheap'ish and cheerful.
Stuart you're running this one now ain't ya? So get choosing. :p
-
Well I guess I am yeah.
The problem with cinemas is that I have no idea what films will be showing by the time we are going. Confirmed 5th December for everyone, yes?
Oh and food I was thinking of the Rodizio in Islington. Good??
Oh and I just noticed that there is a small cinema by that restaurant, Possibility: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ie=UTF8&q=Rodizio&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=Rodizio&hnear=London&view=map&ei=22kES-3WGdGgjAe189i8AQ&ved=0CB4QtQMwAw&hl=en
Pin B, screen on the green: http://www.everymancinema.com/
-
Just tell me where we're meeting, when and how much money i'll need.
-
Well there are 2 choices. I think.
Highbury and Islington tube station (on the Victoria Line)
or
Angel tube Station (on the Northern Line)
(Angel Station is easier for me, but I can get to both
-
Agreed on the Rodizio? Cool. Angel's the nearest stop.
http://www.cucabrazuca.com/brazilian-restaurants-and-bars/rodizio-rico-islington/
Prices just keep on going up... but I guess it's the same as most restaurants if you throw in starter and pud.
Would suggest most drinking done elsewhere, as we all know what a markup eateries put on.
Would also recommend putting in a booking if we go late. If we are getting there around lunchtime it shouldn't matter.
-
So Angel station...Easy...
Want me to meet you at Charing Cross McCall?
Now we just need to agree on when to meet up
-
Bit of warning for you. I'm paying three hundred quid for yo pairs of glasses, i've got my regimental do next weekend too. Plus my paternal nan has only a few weeks left on the clock. On top of usual costs of living I may not be able to attend. Not a definite, just advance warning that you may need to make your own entertainment without me.
EDIT-- Looks like due to further monetary outgoings i'm gonna have a slim month. I honestly don't think i'll be able to attend.
I've even had to pull out of the weekend at butlins. What a flaming pisser
-
Dekker down, Dekker down!
Who've we got left? Who's still in?
TE - I'd probably come straight in to Angel then stand around there looking for y'all. My train'll come in at London Bridge so I'll tube the rest of the way.
-
Ah. in that case i'll see you there then.
Looks like another Dekkerless meetup...and thus no Firespawn
-
Well, that's an evening out down the proverbial ****ter. Oh well, i'm sure none of you could handle the sheer amount of raw L33T I have in person :D
We shall have to meet at the next HLP London.
-
Goddammit, Dekker is down.
Urrrrgh. So who is left :Stuart133
Terran_Emperor
McCall
admiral_wolf
I ... think. Anyone else wanna come, 5th December, meeting at the Angel tube.
-
Well, I'm not too sure about Admiral Wolf, but 3 people is still a good turn-out.
I'll probably be wearing my omnipresent red fleece or something reconizable
-
Ahhh, no red carnations in the top right hand pocket... Oh well.
Anyway about films: Still can't get times for the 5th, will confirm in a few days. There are 2 options, eat first, or see the film first. All kinda depends on what time we want to get home.
For food I am leaning towards the Rodizio near Angel tube. McCall, have you been there before?
-
Yep, quite a few times. Don't waste space on breakfast!
-
I'll probably be wearing my omnipresent red fleece or something reconizable
Better be careful no one mistakes it for a shirt, that could cause problems. :D
2012 is on at Shaftesbury Avenue Cineworld at 17:00 and at 20:30. Seems to be the best film out at the moment.
-
I insist that you take pictures of various drunken states. . . . . . And not yak in leicester square tube station.
I'm gonna miss not attending :(
-
Go for a lunchtime hit on the Rodizio followed by the 17:00 showing?
-
I insist that you take pictures of various drunken states. . . . . . And not yak in leicester square tube station.
I'm gonna miss not attending :(
Well we probably wont get that drunk this time, but I am still expecting all to make subspace noises when we go on the tube. :D
Go for a lunchtime hit on the Rodizio followed by the 17:00 showing?
Yeah, that sounds good, and then see how we go after that.
I'm thinking it would be best to PM each other mobile numbers/real names to help prevent us failing to meet.
-
I'll send you mine tommorow.
Also what time is Lunchtime? for me it varies from Day to day :D
Better be careful no one mistakes it for a shirt, that could cause problems. :D
I've never seen a zip-up shirt
-
I've never seen a zip-up shirt
It's still red, and lunch tends to be around 1 - 2, although I'm thinking maybe a late lunch as the film is on at 5.
-
Uh-oh. I missed the redshirt reference.
James. . . Any aliens, keep away from them and stay away from Kirk.
-
Place tends to open at 12, gets progressively busier. If we turn up at two or so we might have to wait a bit. Three or four diners shouldn't be too bad to fit in though. Shall we aim for 2pm at Angel?
PM'ing you both the mobile number.
-
I can make 14:00.
shall i PM Wolf?
Uh-oh. I missed the redshirt reference.
James. . . Any aliens, keep away from them and stay away from Kirk.
I AM KIRK...(2-6 era only)
-
off dekkers XI thread, just making sure its saturday we're meeting
-
Yeah, the 5th, and it looks like we are meeting at 14:00. Yeah terran_emperor, can you send Wolf a PM and see if wants to come. Cheers.
-
Well. . . Although I didn't manage to attend tonight I managed to scrape a thirty pound quasi together and attend my mates birthday drinks in Bromley.
-
Well, it was a good day. Food was good, although I think we all ate too much. :D
The film was suitably brainless, so that was good too. Looking forward to the next one already. :)
-
No pictures? Rawr. Gravity cat is not amused.
