Title: The Day of Mikhael
Post by: Setekh on April 04, 2002, 07:59:24 am
(http://www.404error.com/404seg1sm.jpg)

All I see down the Hard Light topic summary is the date - "404", "404", "404"... over and over again. It's freaking me out. Is this a cue for Mikhael to take Styxx's place (or indeed, mine) to try and get every 'last post' position on the front HL page?

"020321". What's this, Mik, not updating regularly? :D [jk]

Hey, are you saying that I actively try to get every last post on the first page? :wtf:
Actually, a couple of days ago, I had all last posts on the first AND second pages. =D

Bah, it was just because there was noone else around, and I was working all day. Gotta switch contexts sometimes, or else the stress catches up too fast.
Thanks, master. =D

I hear you. When I had work experience for a week, I just spent all day on the Forums. ALL DAY. It wasn't even that active, then - we had something like half the members. It was a disaster... a perpetual Steak Storm. :D
You are increasing in power. It is time for you to meet the Scourge of All Forums...

It's not like I don't have truckloads of work to do, but if I don't do something else besides programming all day, I start to think in terms of code. About everything. The other day I woke up and proceeded to brush my teeth, and I was thinking about how I'd have to get the parameter from the http session and interpret it to gett my toothbrush. :p
Scourge? Who? What? Where?

I hate it when I've been on MAX all day and I start seeing everything as primitives. It's like 'Hey, she's got a square head, but if her cheeks were extruded a little.....'

:blah: I think you just turned me off programming completely. Boy, now you've gotten me thinking about careers again! Bah. :)
Actually, that's just Shrike. We found out that through SB, WS, VW, the VBB, and HLP, he has some astronomical postcount. More than mine. O_o

I know the feeling,...... I've been spending at least 9 hours a day non-stop coding (except for posting the thing here, of course ;) )...... and I'm suppossed to be on my easter break...wah! :sigh:

Actually, I do that a lot. I look at things and try to figure out how they'd be rendered. Lighting effects in particular. :nod:

I update so very rarely, mostly when I get really angry at work, or some great game thing catches my eye. I'll update again soon, I'm sure. Read my rants about my coworkers and the one about the single most incompetent McDonald's store crew ever. :D

Two problems.

First, I prefer aluminum baseball bats or even cricket bats to firearms. Aluminum bats make that lovely *PLINK!* sound when you hit someone square across the bridge of the nose. Cricket bats have an EDGE. Same force, smaller area. YEAH BABY.

Second, I value the ridiculously large amount they pay me for the the ridiculously small amount I have to do. Sure, my position might disappear should my boss decided to dress left instead of right today, but until then, I bank mad loot.

:lol:

But do you have infamy? NO! Exactly. You can either be rich or obscenely (in)famous then sell the rights to the movie of your life and make a mint.

Um. No. I'd rather have 'obscurity' than infamy or notoriety. I rather like being able to go to a mall, sit on a bench, unnoticed and watch people go by, fantasizing about how to kill each and every one of the other patrons.

Not that I really do that, of course, but I like to keep my options open, you see.

I think of every action and objective in terms of math functions. :D I guess brushing teeth would have some sort of double-period trig function for both the position and velocity. The small period would be for the smaller strokes and the large period is when you switch the set of teeth you are brushing. Something like x=sin(t)sin(4t) y=cos(t/2), 0>t>5 (I brush my teeth really, really fast :D)

I personally would prefer obscurity to anything in real life. I don't want anyone to know about me and consequently, to interfere in my affairs. :D

CP, for teeth brushing, you have to think in terms of mechanics, don't forget the moments ( dunno if it's the same name in english, and actually, i don't care :D ).
You guys are weird, the only time 3dsmax interferes with my real life is when I see something and I think "whoa! witnh some tweaking, this cool look like a great weapon",  or " whoa! what about a nude model of h..." hem, sorry :p

yeah but that only gives the coefficients; the general form of the final equation would look like something similar. :D

mmh, throught the one year I made in STI ( an electro/mechanics formation, sort of), I learned how important moments are ( the friction basically). they can litterally change the speed of a thing down to zero :)
Title: The Day of Mikhael
Post by: Styxx on April 04, 2002, 01:05:25 pm
I was thinking more of something like:

Toothbrush brush = (Toothbrush)session.getAttribute("myToothbrush");
Toothpaste paste = (Toothpaste)session.getAttribute("colgate");

brush.addPaste(paste);

try {
    Util.getBrushteethControls().start(brush);
} catch(BrushteethException e) {
    Log.add("Error brushing teeth",e);
} finally {
    Util.getGeneralControls().sleep(true);
}

And obscurity is better. Way better. ;)

I hear the sounds of BMPs and T-80 rolling sometimes. Always think of how hard an area would be to land in, if you had to deploy troops their. Where enemy snipers could set up..

How about two versions of HLP? the HLP main page would be a splash page and then there would be a text-only front page or a with image front page.
Relatively simple and effective I think :)

Given the title of this thread, why not go with the solution I use on 404error.com? Top story only, with text links. After 3min or the user clicks on the 'Enter 404error' page, they go to the full page, with all the links, graphics, etc, etc.

Mind you, I have absolutely no idea why I do this, as 404error only shows the top story inside anyway, and it uses CSS for layout, with only like two pics (background and the title). :lol:

Hmmmm, I hear that. The security guys at the last place I worked must've thought I was some kinda undercover inspector considering how much attention I gave the security system there.

I've been playing shenmue 2 a lot recently, it's weird when you stop and expect normal RL people to act like they do in the game. That and you have this unnerving want to ask old people in the park if they'll spar with you hoping they're taichi experts :lol:
