Title: Another hosted website...
Post by: CP5670 on April 04, 2002, 10:49:55 am
I got the confirmation email from Gamespy today and uploaded my FS2 campaign's website onto the HLP server; everything seems to be going very well so far. The site is very generic at the moment as I hardly know anything about website design, but hey, it's got CONTENT. :D

I could definitely use any suggestions you guys might have. ;)

Hey thanks, everyone. :) I still need to work on some part of the site though, since I'm still learning about website design stuff. ;)

Does anyone here know how to fix the problem with the edges that some of you might have noticed? I just used the blockquote tags for margins, but those aren't working too well. Basically, I want the text margins to line up with the header image and buttons at the top when using the site on higher resolutions, while still allowing the text to be viewed correctly on lower resolutions. (getting rid of the indents if necessary so that the text fills up the area) Currently, the margins are taking precedence over the text when the site is viewed on lower resolutions, so the margins do not decrease in size at all, but the space allocated to the text gets smaller, which looks really strange on low resolutions. Any ideas?

I probably could use a modeler for some stuff, as I don't know how to do anything regarding that. ;) I wasn't planning too many new models for use in the campaign, but it seems that I may actually need an additional ship or two for story and gameplay reasons. The missions and tables are pretty much covered by myself; the main area where I am deficient is modeling. If you have some unused fighter or bomber models and would like to see them in a mission... ;7

yep, I just mapped the asteroid backgrounds periodically along the polar lines in that mission, along with a few other places. Works pretty well, actually. :D

Use a table with a percentage based width...
i.e.: <table width="75%">
It should work quite well... :)

Cool! Thanks a lot for posting about that bit! :) And including a bit of p1mpage, of course. ;):D The OTT explosions and Inferno ships there also look very impressive; kudos to their creators for that. ;)

No kidding. I wonder if you're the right person to ask whether you liked the format or not... it's intended to be much cleaner than the old format (just splatting images on the front page). :)

LOL, I didn't really publicize this campaign at all until I had already finished half of it (and even then, sparingly), so many people never really heard of it until recently. I tend to kind of "work in the dark" sometimes. ;):D

The table-based system does look quite a bit more organized to me and it also works better on different resolutions.
