Hi guys! Just re-installed TPB and Zathras.
However, while making a pilot, the game complained that I couldn't make an pilot account. It said that I didn't have enough filespace (wich is a lie, A LIE!!!). Even with administrator rights (Windows Vista), the complain comea up and as I try to shut down the game, following with an error message:
"Error: Verify failure: Vbuf0 !=NULL
File: 3ddraw.cpp
Line 451
Call Stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ntdll.dll 771ecfed()
ntdll.dll 771ed1ff()"
So I was simply wondering, has this happened before?

Go to the data folder in the TBP directory. There, you should find a "players" directory (if not, create one). Inside that, create a "multi" and a "single" folder (if they don't exist). In each of those, create a folder called "inferno".
You should now be able to create a pilot.

It worked! Thank you so much!

The E,
Had the same problem, created the "multi" and "single" folders as you suggested, but, I did not create the "INF" folders within each. It seems to work OK, so I was wondering...what is the purpose of creating the "INF" folder inside the "single" and "multi" folders?
Thanks,
Penfold

Well, Inferno builds store their pilot files in those directories because Inferno pilot files are incompatible to those produced by regular builds. Mixing the two in the same directory will lead to weirdness.
I'm telling people to create the entire folder structure just to be on the safe side since for some reason, FS sometimes fails to create those directories by itself.

The E,
Thanks! Every little bit helps.

slowly but steady I begin to think that our installer might be buggy. Had exactly the same problem when I installed my game on this PC from the TBP DVD.
-
This is something that the code should create if it doesn't exist. Why it does for some people and not for others is the real question.
-
Well on Vista, the game is not permitted to create that folder when TBP is installed into c:\program files.

nevermind fixed
