Just got back into FS after several years. Bought the Thrustmaster Hotas X joystick and throttle based on forum feedback. The joystick and all the buttons configure okay (including those on throttle), but the throttle itself and the rudder control is not recognized in FS. It tests fine in Vista properties. Any help? Thanks!

Did you map the aboslute throtle axis under freespace2 opion?
-
No. I had planned to start with the FS original and work my way through to FS2. So I am attempting to configure for FS:Great War and Silent Threat, then move on to FS2 and later additions. I should also note that I am a relative novice at gaming mods.

Are you using the original FreeSpace, or the FSPort?
-
I do have the old CDs (found them while sorting through an old box-that's how I got restarted), but I went ahead and bought the updated games off GOG. So far, using the keyboard and mouse, FS seems to work okay with Vista. A couple of glitches but plays fine. Joystick and buttons work fine, just no throttle or rudder control. What is FSPort?

The FSPort is a mod for FS2 which allows you to play the FS1 campaign using FS2_Open.
Can be found here: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=58357.0
Also has spawned a child project called Silent Threat: Reborn, which makes Silent Threat infinitely better: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=59120.0
Both campaigns can be installed using the FSOInstaller ( http://www.fsoinstaller.com/ ).
Note that they require FS2 to be installed already.

Thanks for the help. I'll go through the install and see how it works.

Did you get the HOTAS Cougar?
If so... I have a treat for you. ;)
I can send you the cougar profiles you'll need to have a good time. However, mine assume that not only you have the HOTAS, but also have rudder pedals and Track IR.
I think though I have my older profile that was for when I didn't have track ir yet. Lemme know if you want it since cougar.frugalsworld.com is down right now.
