I read this in China, believe me it's hilarious. I think I already posted about it but still, I'll post again on its own topic. Extremely funny, definitely read it.

Nah, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is better. If you disagree I'm siccing Marvin the manically-depressed robot on you.
BTW, I'm now officialy a Hitchhikers maniac

For the record, I haven't read any Douglas Adams books. Well, I guess I picked up the HHGTG once, but I didn't like it.

Setekh
I saw it on sale in the castle towers(nb for thsoe of you who dont live in syd aus: a shopping mall near me and setekh) dymocks. but that was like, three months ago or something.
you could always order it in.
it's interesting. i actually stopped to read it, and then ran out of time cos i had appointments to keep.
its very... twisted...:)
-
I've read it too...
Agreed, it's twisted in places, but what a parody... Kept me laughing, at least
And I can't believe someone didn't like HHGTG. How could someone not like that? The very thought of someone not liking it scares me...

Dildo was definitely the one of the best characters. ;) Gawd, that book was such a fast read, and would have been even faster if I hadn't stopped every 3 seconds to laugh...
And yes, it was very twisted humor, but incredibly funny. :D
Oh and Stunaep: If you posted :wtf: over Dildo, he's the parody to Bilbo (the name rhymes...:D)

Heheh... I remember Bored of the Rings. I read it when I was in the army, and man did I crack up all the time! People thought I was crazy for a while cause they heard this constant laughing coming from our tent, and then me coming out teary eyed with laughter! :D  Though the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is way better. BOTR is good, no doubt there, but it could have been longer. And how can you beat Marvin? He kicks ass! But the best part in that entire book has to be when Zaphod is thrown into that machine that shows you in an instant how insignificant you are to the universe (by showing you the universe in persepective to you) and thus making you utterly insane. However when Zaphod came out of the machine everyone expected him to be crazy, however he said "Hey! I'm a Pritty cool guy!" With a huge grin, since the machine showed how big of an actual celebrity he was! Or something like that.

The Total Perspective Vortex, a machine that extrapolates the entire universe from the quantum forces measured off a piece of Fairy Cake. It gives you perspective: just how tiny and insignifigant you are, a microscopic dot on a microscopic dot on the entirety of the Universe. Men go insane becuase they realize how unimportant they are in the whole scheme of things.
Zaphod stepped out of the Total Persepective Vortex with a grin and ate the fairy cake with a grin on his face. Zaphod however, wasn't in the REAL Total Perspective Vortex. He was in a pocket universe, created for him to enter it with the Heart of Gold so he could give it to Mr. Zarniwhoop. Since that universe was created specifically for Zaphod, he was the most important thing in it. His perspective was more than a little bit skewed. ;)

Personally I liked the beginning of the first book, where Arthur got up, saw a bulldozer, shaved, saw a bulldozer, ate breakfast, saw a bulldozer, thought "yellow", and went out to lay in front of the bulldozer. Not to mention everything about Milliways, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

i like the film/series.
