Hi there, here's hoping someone out there can help one more distressed newcomer.
When I launch a mod (FSportmvps for example) or vanilla FS2 from the launcher the game crashes with skipping / looping audio on mission load up (just after hitting the confirm button - the briefings always run fine)
I tend to get the first two training missions on FSport complete with snazzy graphics to play fine, the third can be patchy sometimes dying when the first drone warps in. The first proper campaign mission just hangs.
Other mods act in the same way many hang at the end of the first briefing. Although Deus Ex Machina's first mission runs for a while then dies.
I've messed about with various graphical and audio setting combos but keep getting the same problem.
Retail run from outside of the launcher still works fine.
I've crawled the boards: got openAL, avoiding the pilot corruption errors, correct campaign selected the usual suspects. I've also tried adding -no_gsls in features thinking it may be a shader problem but with no improvement.
Post install info on the installer gave me the green light.
I'm using 3.6.10 and launcher 5.5e (I think it's e, whatever the most up to date one is right now)
I'm running XP on a 1.5 ghz notebook with 1 GB of ram and a crappy (but usually capable) 350M (340M?) IGP. All of my drivers are up to date also. Perhaps the problem lies with my hardware.
I'm fairly frustrated at this stage, any input would be appreciated. Error log etc follows:

OpenGL Version : 1.3.1008 WinXP Release
Guessing your video drivers either are not up to date or your card is just too old. OpenGL 1.4 is pretty much considered bare minimum for FSO 3.6.10.

Hmmm, but the training missions that do run are smooth and look great (definite improvement over retail). The card is crap but seems to cope. Is there a work around to launch the bare versions of the mods to see if they crash without the graphical jazz running?
Sorry if heading off topic btw...

Hmm. Are you using the mv_advanced package in the mediavps? Check if there is a file with that name, and either delete it, or move it somewhere where FS2 won't see it. Then try with that.

Based off the FS2_Open.log attached, you are not running the MediaVP's according to the log. Only the Retail files are present.
Secondly, color bit depth should optimally be set to 32bit, especially if your desktop is 32bit.
Thirdly, given the OpenGL extension that were reported as "not found", upgrading your version of OpenGL will do squat. 1.3 is perfectly fine for Fixed-Render pipeline though, so continue using -no_glsl and don't turn -normal on.
When you DO play with the MediaVP's, don't use MV_Advanced.
As a bare minimum, MV_Core and MV_Effects alone will provide a pretty nice boost to appearance, with MV_Assets providing higher poly models. I can't imagine that those three (in addition to MV_Music) would cause you any problems.
For the video card to be reporting the OpenGL as WinXP Release, it should say ATi/AMD Release. Please double check your Catalyst installation.
And your processor is new enough that you should also be able to get away with using an SSE build at a minimum, that may improve some performance. (These are only available as recent Nightly Builds and are still somewhat experimental, but we are looking at making them the new default providing we can make sure that they are stable enough for everyone to use)
