Title: The Apocalypse Project : The past, the present, and the future
Post by: Pyro MX on October 26, 2009, 11:45:56 pm
Brace yourselves fans, this is going to be a huge one.

The Apocalypse Project started back a while ago with a simple goal in mind : bring the Homeworld universe to the pilot's perspective. For years, members have come and go, the team had hard times, good times... We were (and still are) determined to make a quality game, something that would trigger awe and inspiration. And trough the years, we have worked hard to make it happen.

The truth is, we don't have the manpower to make it happen. We have come to this : we cannot, with this pace and resources, realize the project to its full potential and we no longer hold the Homeworld expertise we had with the previous team in order to continue. We tried to recruit people, to sparkle interest, but our efforts were in vain : people are apparently not interested in Homeworld, or people are just not interested in the project. This ain't finger pointing, just a mere observation.

Calls were made, drastic decisions were taken, pencils were sharpened, paper was torn, minds were put to work.

What you know of The Apocalypse Project is now the past. You have yet to see the future.

Because while we cannot pursue the road along Higarrans, we can forge our own one...

And start anew.

I'm torn between distress over the loss of this project, and relief that the team is still comitted to making Homeworld in FSO.

some things come in pairs, like buses.

Well, as long as I get to conduct bombing runs on Vaygr Battlecruisers.

And seriously, if there's anything you think I can do to help, don't hesitate to ask.

If it's still related to Homeworld and has the 10th Anniversary Kushan Interceptor as a model, wootness.

I think the problem is actually that people who can help with the MOD are not interested, because I (and probably many others who can't MOD) are very interested...

* prepares the new recruitment thread *

Well then I am glad I'm proven wrong (honestly)! Tomorrow I'll post on both the website (which is back online by the way) and the forum a recruitment thread. Be sure to check it out! But I can bring you a sneak preview : we need 3D modellers. Badly. Like, very badly.

So, this makes what, 3 times the mod has started over from scratch?

I think I want to try, but I don't know if I can model well enough. Is there any specific ship you want modelled for now?

I'll give my support as well, I can model, I suck at texturing though...

Well, no. If that was the case, we wouldn't be here today. The team restructured about 2 times, but we never flushed out everything down the toilet. However, should things not get better, the red button does get tempting to push. And since we don't want to come to this, well, we have to get out of the private forum and reach out a bit and try to get dedicated people in the project. (Which we have done trough time, you probably noticed the cube to battlecruiser ad on the HLP front not so long ago)

The recruiting thread should be ready this afternoon or this evening so me and Dark Kinght can gather the requests. (So Rodo and Kiloku, your requests are noted and I expect you to read the thread that will pop up later today ;) I can send you a PM to notify you when it's up). That way, you will all know what we're up to, and whaT's coming up if we get stuff done!

Title: Re: THE APOCALYPSE PROJECT: DEAD!!
Post by: Stormkeeper on November 01, 2009, 07:01:05 am
ok, I thought this was supposed to be released by christmas LAST YEAR. Well I've had enough. Whether YOU guys think it's dead or not, it is. I'm tired of hearing "It'll be done soon" "we're working on it, be patient" "we're too busy"  And also seeing very few screenshots and videos, that only supports my claim as it is dead.

If a project host would like to respond, you must make it very clear that is project will be released soon, or, as my claim says, never.
