Do you guys think they would look good as silhouettes instead of as they are now? I think they'd look sick.
-
They're pretty much silhouetted anyway, given the brightness of the sun.
And what's up with your post count, anyway?

Yeah I guess you're right...
And what's up with your post count, anyway?
Which one? The airplane or the absurdly big number?

Mine's bigger. :nervous:

Fix0red. :D

Well...go ahead and darken the bitmap and look at the results :P
-
IMO it really ought to be redone completely. Heck, I'll give it a try. It should only take a few minutes.
Edit: I gave up. Apparently, FRED2 turns off lighting from suns if you uncheck "Show Background", even if the "Lighting from Suns" option is enabled.

I'd wait for an HTL Sath before redoing the bitmap.

I heard that Esarai was working on one, in addition to his Dragon, Typhon, some sort of Vasudan Emperor's Flagship, and the CENSORED.
But it might be just a rumor.

After having a look at the SunSathanas bitmap, I think snail is right and making it completly black will give nicer results... also as we now play the game in a much higher resolution then retail, we can use a higher rez map and show the whole Sath fleet
-
You can't show the WHOLE fleet. Only Half
Based on the ingame animations, the Saths are roughly in a ring around the star's equator. So roughly half would behind the star from your perspective (unless, you are over the poles)...HEY! New idea for a Sath fleet map: As a ring around the star for use in situations where you are in the polar regions of Capella

polar regions of Capella
<lol>
Polar regions made my day. Thank you Terran_Empreror

Well, on the other hand, there's the cutscene, where they appear in a group, and the bitmap itself. Rule of cool, probably.
But one could also say that part of the Saths were in a ring around it, part of them in one group. Which allows for a variety of new Sath bitmaps...
-
The sense of actual scale in that cutscene was all kinds of wrong anyway, since only 80 or so juggernauts around a star obviously wouldn't be smack-dab right next to each other. It worked just fine as Rule of Cool, though. :p

That's what you're complaining about? Not the fact that the Sathanas juggernaughts were approximately the size of the star in that scene?
-
Shhh, they'll notice! :p
-
You know, if they went about and said 80,000 Sathanas juggernauts instead of just 80 and then shown the same scene with the star being larger, it'd make perfect sense.
Not much implication to the GTVA, since 80 or 80000 they're ****ed either way if they cared anything other than blowin' up Capella, and it'll put down those people who think that the GTVA could have taken the Sathans fleet on.
-
Perhaps the Sathanas(plural) were gathered in groups at important positions around the sun. Like 10 here, 10 there, at structurally important places for them to use their subspace magic together.
Or just Rule of Cool.
-
I think an HTL Sathanas with normal maps would be a dream come true. I wonder if one is in the works in some form.
There is one WiP, Esarai is working on it.
-
Sweet, but won't it be another five years before any HTL projects get complete with the way all the modelers are trying to knock out 15 different projects at once? :P

The only thing we have to fear is procrastination.
