Post by: torc on November 09, 2009, 01:24:20 pm
hello everyone! i don't know if this is the right place but i wonder if freespace 2 works with the new AMD eyefinity tecnology cause i'm really inerested to buy a pair of amd 5850 and if someone knows any software that can do this (i know the triplehead2go works but 300$ are too much only for a game :(  )  thank you so much and forgive my english (i am italian)

I'm not sure FSO works very well with multiple monitors at all.

The HUD element stretching bug makes super wide monitors difficult to work with.  Once that gets fixed it shouldn't be much of an issue.  The in game elements work pretty well though, you just end up with a really flattened radar, etc on a 2 or 3 monitor wide setup.

i know there's a problem about the hud, however i don't know FS2 works with the new eyefinity tecnology ... anyone in the forum have a radeon hd that supports eyefinity and can check if it works?

I don't see why it wouldn't, it looks like it just emulates one large monitor across many smaller ones.  The games don't seem to need any special support for it, similar to TripleHead2Go.

That works fine with a matrox triple head here, the only issue is the hud that got stretched.
I think it would work with eyefinity as well.

you can span multiple monitors just fine so long as opengl sees one logical display. fo course thats with nvidia and old drivers (i dopnt think post vista drivers support this anymore).

Well, there is. Ish. The_E posted a one line fix for hud elements stretching under a 720p interface.

Not sure if that's related to this though.

That wasn't for stretching so much as to use the hi-res HUD elements at 720p I thought?

Yes, that solves a separate issue whereby the low-res interface art was being used when it shouldn't have been.

The HUD aspect ratio issue remains.

Ya, hud and main hall too  ;7

You can't exactly fix that one without designing a new mainhall for that aspect ratio.  Repositioning hud elements though is more feasible.

for the main hull i was more thinking about letting black spaces on side screens.

just center it on 1280*1024, anyway the main hall is very little issue, i mean hud is far more.... important  ;)

Just jumped the gun on an eyefinity setup. Any news on getting the hud-stretch (and hud centering for multimonitor) fixed?

i think theres a hud overhaul build (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=69858.0) you can try. might need some custom tables for it to work but it should fix your hud.

Yup, it will fix it but definitely needs a set of custom tables for something like an eyefinity resolution.
