Zacam's "oops" patch
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The "oops" patch is essentially this: when diffing against all the project file changes to get the working Icon sets in after the spectacular merge of the same from Antipodes, I did not _quite_ pay as close attention as I should have and did not notice that _none_ of the builds had "USE_OPENAL;" set in the Freespace2.vcproj. So as a result, anything that needed OpenAL, did not have it available.

I can only apologize and promise better diligence the next time I do something like this from work.

I also promised builds with "_HAS_ITERATOR_DEBUGGING=0;", "_SECURE_SCL=0;" & "_CRT_SECURE_NO_DEPRECATE;" put back in.

I thought I linked these earlier, but apparently I did not, so here they are:

I'm getting an error message on the download for the sse2 build saying there is a broken file.  I tried it both with Power Archiver and 7zip.  7zip gave me the most detailed message.

The fso-WIN-20091116_r5660-SSE2.7zip file is giving me the following error messages.
Data error in ‘fred2_open_3_6_11d_sse2.pdb’ file is broken.
Data error in ‘fs2_open_3_6_11d_sse2.pdb’ file is broken.

In the sse2 inferno build zip the regular inferno build files for fred and fso are not in the file instead the regular sse2 build files are in the zip

The fso-WIN-20091116_r5660-INF-SSE2.7zip has:
fred2_open_3_6_11r_sse2.exe
fred2_open_3_6_11r_sse2.pdb
fs2_open_3_6_11r_sse2.exe
fs2_open_3_6_11r_sse2.pdb
instead of the Inferno files

Argh, I have no idea what took a crap where, but I will correct that as fast as I can.

For what _is_ packaged though, are there any problems?

And at least it is only the .pdb files. That will only suck if there is a crash error.

I've been testing the Inferno builds so I haven't checked yet.  I downloaded the files to my computer this morning right before I left for work so I haven't had time to try them.  It'll be this evening before I can check.  I'll let you know.

If it's about the mod having bad data that's been in there for a while now.

Hmm I just saw why, that's the "btrl warping type that changed is named to a more neutral one".
I just got to Find the new name in used now  as it is not yet changed in the ships.tbl wiki page :warp:
If someone have the info, i'll be glad to read it.

In tables?
I thought it was in-code only.
I asked about it and Chief replied:
5634 doesn't have any user-side effects.  Just the in-code names of functions and constants were changed from BTRL to BSG.
Was something changed since then?

EDIT: Nevermind, there was another change that I overlooked, which apperantely did this.

I'm also curious as to what changed that caused a break in this behavior for the end user.  Like he said, the earlier commit didn't make any external changes and I thought that was the end of it.

So I just tried this nightly SSE2 and I get this on start up:
ERANGE: String error. Please Report.
Trying to put into 128 byte buffer:
G:\Games\Freespace\ðôðô²]L±‚]L±â]L±ò]L±Â]L±Ò]L±2^L±^L±r^L±b^L±B^L±’^L±"_L±r_L±‚_L±Ò_L±bXL±BXL±’XL±"YL±YL±bYL±²YL±‚YL±âYL±ÂYL±"ZL±ZL±bZL±BZL±¢ZL±‚ZL±âZL±ÂZL±"[L±[L±b[L±B[L±¢[L±‚[L±â[L±Â[L±"TL±TL±bTL±BTL±¢TL±‚TL±âTL±ÂTL±"UL±UL±bUL±BUL±¢UL±‚UL±âUL±
<no module>! KiFastSystemCallRet
<no module>! WaitForSingleObject + 18 bytes
<no module>! <no symbol>
<no module>! <no symbol>

On an other note. .jpg support is still in right? cause I have a .jpg loading screens that are not showing up with 5636
edit: or well, not just .jpg, can't get any loading screen to show up for some reason.

edit again: disregard that

Any one having problems with the SSE2 builds: Re-download them and check the hashes. New uploads were put up, but mediafire has been being a ***** lately.

I get this same error. It happens with regular and Inferno, both SSE and SSE2 builds.

portej05 is looking into that I think.  Somehow now there's a 256-char string trying to be stuffed into a 128-char string, and it might be causing some problems.

I'm looking into this one at the moment.
I added some more safe_strings calls when I cleaned up the memset stuff (it's in the commit logs where that happened).
There's some damn dodgy calculations to figure out whether or not we overran a buffer (what's the point of doing it AFTER we've overrun :P )

Updated the first post with builds that were made with the "_HAS_ITERATOR_DEBUGGING=0;", "_SECURE_SCL=0;" & "_CRT_SECURE_NO_DEPRECATE;" put back in.

I swore I modified the message to link them, but apparently I had not.

Kinda shows why I changed the name. If you ever tried to describe a problem claiming you had the BtRL warp effect you'd probably go round in circles a few times before everyone realised you meant the in built code not the dds effects from the BtRL demo. :)
