Title: Dogfighting in Atmosphere
Post by: Desertfox287 on November 20, 2009, 03:57:49 pm
I was wondering if anyone knows how to have a dogfight take place in the atmosphere?

Something like this:

with gravity and all? Ask shadowgorrath. He made that so he knows.

Otherwise it's just a skybox.
Set it in background in FRED. Get atmospheric skyboxes from 158th exposition. Or make them yourself.

I've been trying to get someone, namely a certain Nuke..., to tell us more about his atmospheric modding in greater detail. Nuke seems to have created a fairly advanced atmospheric mod.

...Because I don't have fast internet here, I'm not going to search YouTube, but I think Nuke's name there is "LordOfNihil". Try that and see if you can find the atmospheric flight test he posted...

Wasn't Nuke's mars thing more of orbital mechanics?

Well, it was more physics intensive than other projects, but the item I'm referring to is atmospheric flight... which happened to take place on Mars.  :P

If you find the video, it has a description of the project's intent.

What ShadowGorrath's work on DEFCON, IMO is amazing. I never did understand how you could use an atmosphere for FS. And the falling snow will always be a mystery to me also. :D
