Use the ****en' lvlshot instead of img. It makes life more fun without sacrificing image quality goddammit. --Jeff Vader

Try -mod World in Flame. Get rid of the < >
-
thanks! got it working now! time to start the real work of the campaign!
-
Next time, when you post big images, remember to use [lvlshot] instead of [img]. (it also helps to crop!)
-
My friend who is helping me with the campaign has vista and can't get this to work still. And also, I didn't want to crop images further because I wanted to make the pictures easily read.
-
In the future, please use alt+printscreen to screenshot only the active window. It's taking a really long time to download all of the images, and most of it is your desktop background.
-
that's doesn't matter I asked a separate question so stop complaining! dear god get a better browser firefox, chrome or opera work miracles
-
Wow, you're incredibly rude. I am not inclined to help.
Please use alt-printscreen in the future.
-
No I'm getting sick of people not actually helping but telling me something that I was told previously. I am just a bit frustrated by this community and was simply venting a bit of steam, and at this point, I couldn't care less if you help, I'll get my help from elsewhere if I can't from here. All I asked is for some help not people repeatedly telling me the same thing over and over again. I had kept it in mind the first time and do not need to be told repeatedly. So either help me or don't bother posting the same crap I don't need again.
Edit: Also as stated earlier, I kept the image large so it was easily read and I didn't know about taking pictures of windows

You don't even have a problem open. Last I heard you had everything working.
Act like an adult.
-
If you would read the thread, you would notice I also asked a second question so please read the thread before posting. My friend has vista and the solution won't work Also, this has nothing to do with acting like an adult, if you would have noticed I just gave a friendly suggestion to get a better browser to handle the images smoother, and for the most part, thats seems to be the problem because I don't have trouble loading the pictures and it seems that complainig about the size, which really isn't that big is trivial.
-
Try removing the spaces from the mod directory name. FS2_Open can deal with them all right, but I am totally not certain about Vista being able to handle them correctly on the FRED shortcut properties.
Other than that, telling how exactly it doesn't work on Vista might also be helpful. Or running FRED debug and taking a look at the log, which should tell at the very least what cmdline options actually are used and what directories are read for game assets. Which I suspect should help in narrowing down the problem.
Aside from that, your friendly suggestion of "getting a better browser" assumes that the person doesn't use a "better browser" already. Not only that, but it also has nothing to do with the actual issue since the browser used has nothing to do with the image size and connection speed which are the defining factors of determining the time it takes for images to display. Which varies depending on time of day and the ISP in question (as well as the stress on the image hosting server used). Browsers can have differences in their rendering speed of complex pages, but images aren't really a problem for any of them, it's just that large images in threads like this can be rather annoying for people with slow connections and even more so for those poor sods who live in somewhere like Australia where ISP's have a habit of enforcing monthly download quotas for some retarded reasons.
Also, aside from using Alt+PrintScrn which you didn't know, you could always go through the trouble of cropping the relevant parts of the images, which would at least show a modicum of respect towards the community you are asking to help you.
However, I think this is quite enough of metadiscussion and this thread would be better served on just solving the problem. I hope you get it working... :)

thank you, I'll get my friend to try that I'll ask him more about the error later.

Read this carefully and acknowledge that you understand it and you'll be taking a step in the right direction.
I was perfectly aware of your statement that your friend could not 'make it work' under Vista, but you did not take the most basic steps required to turn it into a help request.
Clean up your act.

1. I didn't crop the images because I didn't know it was a problem because I have used forums that are predominately used by other people, and I often posted images larger than this and had no complaints. 2. As I said clearly earlier, I was already frustrated, and having people post the same crap already posted didn't help. 3. I did not have info at the time to elaborate, but as I said it was not working, and I had hoped that it was a simple deduction for people to realize I was meaning the above fix and simply make a new answer because I believed it to have been posted previously
So in conclusion yes I understand, but have not been active in this community long, and you act as if I should know some of these things, one of the reasons this community frustrates me. Also, you said I need to clean up my act, and to be honest, all I have done is ask people to stop bothering me about images, and answer my questions. So if that is a problem than this community needs to rethink how it's run
-
Uhh... Now that we've all thoroughly ripped each others throats out, justly or not...
Has the issues your friend's been experiencing been fixed yet, Desertfox?

It says The name (C:/users/Docter Dean/Freespace2/Fred2_Open_3_6_9.exe) -mod World in Flames specified in the target box is not valid make sure the path name and file are correct

Are the parentheses part of the target line? They shouldn't be. It should just be
C:/users/Docter Dean/Freespace2/Fred2_Open_3_6_9.exe -mod World in Flames
or alternatively
"C:/users/Docter Dean/Freespace2/Fred2_Open_3_6_9.exe -mod World in Flames"
Aside from that, the version of FS2_Open is very old, antiquated even. Unless you have a very good reason to use that version, you should at least be using the 3.6.10 official FRED2 build which is much more recent.
-
thanks for the help I'll message him on skype now. The Parentheses were there on default so we assumed it was supposed to be there I use the 3_6_10 build, but he doesn't because he never completely updated.
