Title: Music eh
Post by: deathfun on November 27, 2009, 12:24:46 am
We all know that the soundtrack for Freespace 1/2 is amazing.
There is no doubt about that

However, how many here have muted that ambiance and replaced it with something on your iTunes playlist?
If so, what would that be?

I recently did it with the Star Trek (09) soundtrack and well... as the Ravana showed itself for the first time I had this going

I've realized how much fun this is

It's the latter.  The former is a mistake that's persisted for way too long. :p

Anyone mentioning things that are not instrumentals must be purged.

Blackhole's Duress, Alutia and Aurora Theory are all good choices. Duress even has been, though I don't think it was used in the perfect context.

Stargate Atlantis' opening would make awesome opening cutscene/trailer music.

Gettysburg soundtrack. Fife and Gun is a personal favorite but I draw a blank on what it would incorporate well to.

Two Steps From Hell has a few good pieces. Bigger Than Kong (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKdNeNR5CQM), Two Steps From Hell (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjHe99pQW2Y&feature=PlayList&p=776B766F4813959B&index=31), Freedom Fighters (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xjdzVbe-H8), Born of Ash (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJptJaCEZuw), I could go on if you like?

Upbeat3.ogg from Sins of a Solar Empire.

Steel Panthers 3 opening video track.

Some of the music I still have from Fury3, particularly the Overture (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXF79-Y_oYI), which is an incredible piece of music even today; beautifully orchestrated, soft, sad, and angry. I also have (in better quality than these) Main Theme/Ares Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPFu_fK5L0A&feature=related), the Tech Descriptions Theme which has been apparently otherwise lost to the mists of time, and Fury Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_DmnfVeNUw&feature=related), and the Sebek theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bZoIxaDM8g&feature=related).
