Title: Just another random capship duel mission...
Post by: Marcov on November 27, 2009, 09:52:21 pm
Hello people.

This is my first Freespace 2 mission I've uploaded. It is a simple mission wherein you play as a GTD Orion trying to fight an SD Demon. It's simple, yet challenging. It's not easy, though; you need to develop a certain tactic to beat your enemy, the SD Hell.

Requirements:

You need to have FS2 Open for this to work. Otherwise, your beams won't fire.

Note: There are two missions in the zip file. The EBB1 is a mission where you just play an Orion vs. Demon. In the EBB1b, you can select ANY capital ship you want, so take note of the new ships.tbl. Just make a backup copy of your original ships.tbl file then replace it with mine. This will enable you to select any capital ship in the Ship Selection (in EBB1b).

Enjoy  :)

No, no, no. Select it as a mod. Did you use a .tbm?

Yes. Do not, under any circumstances whatsoever, simply distribute a new tbl or tbm file and expect users to handle it correctly.

Rule of thumb: If you are releasing a new mission, or new campaign, using only retail or mediavps assets, it is OK to put it into <FS2 directory>\data\missions.
If you need or want to alter tables, NO MATTER WHICH ONES, you will need to distribute it as a mod.
Let me repeat this: DO NOT PUT NEW TABLE FILES INTO YOUR MAIN DATA DIRECTORY. It WILL have repercussions.

It seems that he used retail modding guidelines instead of FSO ones.
This would have worked if the mission was meant to be retail compatible, but since it isn't, it would have been better to make it a mod.
