How do you get FS1 weapons into Fred2 open (newest version)

Use FSPort, or if you want to use them alongside FS2 weapons, this:

well I need them to get into Fred so I can give them to ships in there, I don't know how to do that

Ah, this.
General rules for enabling mods in FRED2_Open:
You have to create a shortcut to FRED2_Open and add "-mod [name of your mod]" at the end.
It should look like that:
Code: [Select]
[yourFS2folder]\fred2_open_3_6_11r.exe -mod [name of your mod]

yeah, I have the mod folder and shortcut setup I just don't know how to add the weapons I'm new to modding freespace

If you're using FS1toFS2, just put it as a mod into your shortcut and they should appear on ship list.
In case of FSPort, entire list should be altered, along with default player ship.

I am working on a campaign already and was just wondering how I can do this because I already have a mod folder for this campaign, but still have not found a way to add in the ships/weapons. I am sorry if I am misinterpreting what you are saying but I honestly have no idea what to do to add this to my mod. Probably should have been more specific earlier, but I wasn't sure how do anything at that point

Just copy the .vps I linked you to into your mod folder.

Is there any way to only put in the weapons and the Apollo? I'm having problems because fred2 stops recognizing the other ships I have in the editor

Get your hands dirty in the wiki and learn how the tables work. :)

Or use the Inferno build, they're going to become standard anyway.
It's possible to get it from the 3.6.10 release thread and Nightlies always come with Inferno version for some time.
