Dunno why i'm posting this - boredom probably - but here's a shot of a little thing I did last night;
Obviously a very early WIP - and Ts is being very unco-operative hwen itc ocmes to mapping the walls (in particular), and I need to build a new ceiling, etc.
Still, though it might be of interest to someone.
-
Looks more like a Throne-Room or a command center.
-
Still looks cool though :)
-
well, this is a really cool WiP.
-
We could use a hanger man here... ;7
-
Pretty good.

I'd make the image darker.
Still.. Great work!

Darker? Why?

To give it a hanger atmosphere obviously

Nice work... post pics when you have more detail, it's kinda plain right now.
-
Plain?! Its brilliant :D :D.

Somehow, I laready expected that... :D :p

Kinda too red too. Looks like a Red Alert going on. unless, of course you wanted it to look that way.:)
-
I think it should be red and who knows about the alerts...

I'm sorry, but I didn't get the pun here.

There isn't one

Looks fine to me.
If you want to go hi poly add loads of lattices and docking arms and pipes in everywhere.
-
It looks all fine to me as well... the only problem I can think of really is that it doesn't seem to have a sense of 'largeness'... it looks like a small room, not a massive hangar.
-
This actually looks a lot like the cargo loading rooms in the third level of the Descent 3 Mercenary campaign. ;) It's a nice render, but it needs more detail (parked ships, resupply units, ground crew, etc.) to give it a feeling of large scale. Good color choices, though. The large Bastion mainhall render on the DNet site is a nice example of a hangar one. ;)
-
Just play with the FOV settings to make it look bigger.
-
Is that like - playable in Freespace 2? :D

You carn't say that about my TC! I have 8 diffrent alerts sofar! :ha:
About the hangar - Hangar = good (im a Hangar man to!)
I think the hagar opening is sligtly too tight though....
-
:jaw: what program did you do that in again?

Well, it's within poly limits - broken into floor, walls, etc ...but you'd be nuts to use it.
Um...the main floor is ok, I think - it's actually got about 12 red light illuminating the pad (I need to cant these upwards a bit, first).... the wall is VERY early work - it's not even fully textured - hence the light grey / white bit ;) , and I agree on the scale. Bear in mind that the actual pad areas - 4 in the pic - are quite big....
I actually hav an alternate version composed of one sub-object (in MAx), of about 6000 polys - it's just something I'll be playing about with.
Detail? yeah - I was planning on adding a control room over the nager (plus the hanger door is a seperate object), gridwork on a (raised) ceiling, possibly battle damage. i think this is more of a final staging area at the moment, though - if you think of an aircraft carrier, the work on launch prep, etc, would be done elsewehere and the ship then moved via lifts to a launch bay....
Anyway, it's WIP, so no worries. Nice to get ideas, thoug. :)
Edit - modelled in Max 4, textured and rendered in TS5 (cos I haven't worked with using tiled-style maps in MAX yet).

I think he said TS... :)
Very nice. I think the red is good; now, all you need (apart from more detail, naturally) is a few fighters and shadows in there to get some scale on it. :)

her, what's with red and dark ( the comments, not the pic) ???
oooooooook right, i'm sure the people who handles the missiles and all that crap sure loves to work in the dark: "look at your feet dude, I wouldn't want to drop that Helios on the plasma cells of the maxim" " oh, and be sure to check the connections twice when you repair the radar on that Herc, coz with the red light, you never know... you could have plugged the wrong lines"
:p

Atmosphere free-room. I was only testing the spotlights around the landing pads.....
Actually, if you take the pads as lifts from below (60x60m), and having (roughly) 60m between them, it's a pretty damn big room (about 300m wide, 300 long) - the roof is low, though.
anyway, who's to see they don't have internal lighting for the panels on a fighter...it's not as if they're short of free reactor power sitting on the ground, is it? ;7

ok :D try to plug all the stuff in your PC at 12pm, with the lights in your room turned off, and just a light in your PC :p
Possible, but... harmfull for the eyes, the arms, etc etc ;)

What do you mena? I can plug in all my Pc cables by touch, anyway - it's under a desk.
-
nah, I mean, the RAM, the vdeo card, the HD... if you can do that by touch, well, :D
anyway, just look at the hangar in a US carrier. those things are full of lights, for a reason ;)
