Title: No Sound with Win 7 & "Realtek High Definition Audio"
Post by: Fighter77 on December 11, 2009, 10:41:30 pm
I played Babylon OK on my old computer ( Vista with "SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio" for Sound)
My new computer has (Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit with ""Realtek High Definition Audio" for Sound) but I do not
get any sound in the Game. The rest of the Games plays OK.
In the FS2 Open Launcher under Tab > Audio/Joystick > Currently Selected OpenAL Sound Device >
shows only [ no sound ].

I found this "OpenAL Installer for Windows" here:
http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/Downloads/Forms/AllItems.aspx

Question? How do I get Sound in Babylon to work with Win 7 & "Realtek High Definition Audio"?
Should I just install the "OpenAL Installer from the above link?

Thanks,

Pretty much.  After you install OpenAL, you should be able to select "Generic Software" in that drop-down menu.

I'm shocked if you've actually managed to get TBP running without installing OpenAL.

Yeah, the Launcher should start complaining right away....

Thanks. Fixed by Using the "OpenAL Installer for Windows" from the above link [ file - "oalist.zip"].
I now have "Generic Software" in the Launcher & the sound works perfectly.
Now with crystal clear sound & a Dell 27in Monitor I really am in Space.
