Let's recount the issues, shall we?
(Oh, I DL'ed 6 campaigns and only 1 worked without any tweaking... Curse of Freespace, I guess...)
1) Pandora's Box and Renegade Resurgence crash on mission launch.
2) Battle for Altair completely puzzles me. If I add it as a mod then nothing happens, FS doesn't recognize it. Am I supposed zo put the mission files into data/missions or what?
3) Aftermath 2.0 - I launch the Launcher (ironic?) and when I try to select the mod I get this nice error message: Invalid MOD ini in mulitple (sic)! mod parameter, only -mod calls are allowed.
I didn't do anything with any of the campaign files or folders.
Ceterum censeo Syrk is hiring...

Aftermath works fine now. I read the corresponding forums.

fs2_open.logs (and maybe the errors that appear during the crashes).

If it is distributed as mission files, yes: \freespace2\battleforaltair\data\missions\ . And if there are only missions, you'll need to open the Mission Simulator and select Single Missions. If there is no campaign file for them, then naturally a campaign will not appear in the campaign selection screen.

I'll post the logs soon. There are no error messages, the game freezes and I must use Ctrl-Alt-Del to be able to quit.

there is a BFA.fsc file and nine .fsm files. I guess these are missions, right?

Yes. .fsc is actually a campaign file, but it goes into \data\missions\ as well. Which actually means that once all missions are in place, the campaign will appear in the campaign selection screen.

fsm aren't FS2 mission. I think they're FS1 missions, so you need to have them converted somehow.

Touché. I thought there was something funky about it.
