Hey looks like a good mod. I get crashes to the desktop asking me to debug and stuff.. but i just press no and i get back to playing
BVut what REALLY ruins it for me is the lack of SOUND; all i get is subtitles on the screen and stuff that says "Wave file missing" so i dont get to hear the characters.. that really ruinst his otherwise interesting looking game.
I did everything written here during installationa nd got all the files from this link: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=61406.0
Unless u guys can go without voice acting and characterization... i';d say the 1st mission's lack of character voices does not maek me feel like playing it at all... so i'm backt o pl;aying the FS2 original campaign.
I am certain i installed it wrong or something. Have u got any of the missing wav files?
P.S Please update the installation; coz i know of ppl who don't play this game/mod because it's too "complicated to download and install"
Cheers

Errrm.
You know, we ARE currently working on getting voice acting and other improvements done for a re-release. If you can do VA, there are a couple of minor roles that need filling, look here for details.
So, no. There are no missing files; Noone outside of the dev team has those ATM.
Now, as for your other problems, those are being worked on as well, but just to make sure, we need the following information:
*What version of Blue Planet are you using?
*What Version of FSO are you using?
*What is the EXACT error message?
If it is about missing ship classes, that error has been fixed in the dev version. It will be distributed, together with the voicework, once the voice acting is done.
P.S Please update the installation; coz i know of ppl who don't play this game/mod because it's too "complicated to download and install"
That's unfortunate, but if you could point out the areas of the installation guide that you or the other people are having problems with, we can try to fix those.
Feel free to enter the #hard-light IRC channel (Link is in my sig) and ask for guidance; there is a pretty good chance that I or other people on the BP team are available for feedback.

Indeed.
Blue Planet doesn't have voice acting (yet), and neither does a whole bunch of mods. Voice acting is an arseload of work, and in the worst case scenario, implementing voice acting can lead to the mod being released years behind schedule. Reading the lines can be a bit hectic at first, but you'll get used to it.
Installing Blue Planet is exactly as difficult as installing any other mod:
1. Download files.
2. Create subfolder under \freespace2\.
3. Punch mod files into subfolder.
4. Select subfolder as a mod folder with the Launcher.
5. ????
6. PROFIT.
If you have errors/crashes, any error messages will be a huge help. fs2_open.log might also help (see the "Your fs2_open.log" part here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=56279.msg1180359#msg1180359)).

Thanks guys for responding so quickly. i have new problems now im afraid.
It's weird. i remember getting it to work onto the cool campaign screen but now cant. I select blue planet in the mod and run the launcher, i get the usual Blue planet SCP (whatever that means) screen with green words like its a matrix movie.. and then it crashes to give me this error:
Warning !
Warning: Weapon explosion 'SubbeamWarm' does not have an LOD0 anim!
File: Weapons.cpp
Line: 1241
Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
parse_weapon() parse_weaponstbl() weapon_init() game_init() game_main() WinMain() WinMainCRTStartup() kernel32.dll 76d21174()
ntdll.dll 773ab3f5()
ntdll.dll 773ab3c8()
------------------------------------------------------------------
it says press no, yes (debug) or cancel.
I press no (like i usually do to get it running again)
and it momentarily returns to the loading screen, only to crash again with this error
Warning: Too many beam sections for weapon HRed - max is 5
File: Weapons.cpp
Line: 3027
Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
parse_weaponstbl() parse_modular_table() weapon_init() game_init() game_main() WinMain() WinMainCRTStartup() kernel32.dll 76d21174()
ntdll.dll 773ab3f5()
ntdll.dll 773ab3c8()
------------------------------------------------------------------
and i keep pressing no to get a whole HOST of errors..
Warning: Too many beam sections for weapon TerSlashBlue - max is 5
File: Weapons.cpp
Line: 3027
Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
parse_weaponstbl() parse_modular_table() weapon_init() game_init() game_main() WinMain() WinMainCRTStartup() kernel32.dll 76d21174()
ntdll.dll 773ab3f5()
ntdll.dll 773ab3c8()
------------------------------------------------------------------
if i press yes, the game crashers..
if i press cancel it crashes as well..
if i press no, i keep getting error messages,
==============
As for my version? i think i am using freespae open launcher 5.5e?
Cheers
Hey i'd love to do voice acting work if u need me to. I used to do a lot of voice acting work in asia for weird 3d cartoons (chinesse pirated versions of buffy the vampire slayer) that never got produced lol.

Please open the Launcher, and select a debug build. It should be called fs2_open_3_6_10d.exe or something like that. Run the game. Click through the errors as before. Once you get to the pilot select screen, quit the game, then go to the data folder in your FS2 directory. You will find a file called fs2_open.log there. Post it here.

It sounds like he is using a debug build and someone got sloppy with writing tables... :nervous:
-
There are a few errors in the BP 3.6.10 tables that are in the downloads (Actually, there is only one, non-critical one). I suspect that something is wrong in the setup, some VP that is not supposed to be there or something.
For the record, the current dev version runs error-free on 3.6.11.

Woolie-Wool's right. It sounds like he's trying to play the game with a debug build. User error.
Davidge, most mods do not have voice acting. Voice acting on Blue Planet has been in progress for a year and a half now but you can be sure that it is enjoyable even without VA.
Please select a release build (ends in -r) in the launcher before playing. Let us know if there are still any problems.
Make sure you're using the latest 3.6.10 version of Blue Planet and the 3.6.10 final release build.

Actually, if he is using 3.6.10 Final (as he probably should be), it would be named fs2_open_3_6_10.exe.
