This might sound kind of corny but with all of the models and renders coming in these days, mabey we sould have official raters that give models ratings on a  or  basis.
For example: a rater might give this to a model-
Mesh :yes::yes::yes:
Textures
Overall
Well, what do you think? I think that it could help out some people and let them see what they need improvement in
Or I could be quiet and go away ;)
-
I like the idea.. but whats wrong with:
"I love the model, the shapes excellent - especially the pointy bits. The skin looks a little poor though - to tiled, perhaps if you re-map it? Definitely a good job though".
See? :)
-
Idea:
Presentation:
Final sentence:
:D
-
i dont think it would work...it would make everything a bit institutionalised, and the great thing about HLP is its' mostly unstructured :)
GOATS:

Most of HLP needs to be institutionalised...
-
Mik: I take it you haven't been to institutionlized forums lately...;)
-
I think we mean 'institutionalised' in different ways.
However, I only go to two different fora: HardLight and the Infogrammes North American Iwar forum. Both are very much undermoderated and tend to stay reasonably on topic.
Honestly, I'm far too lazy to put up with the sort of things that take place on most fora. I hang out here because of the high signal to noise ration.
I still think most of us belong in an institution though. The sort with soft soft walls. ;)

We are rahter sane, then the VBB:D

Where's a goat-whompin' smiley when you need one? This sniping one really is overused...

They're coming to take me away, ha haaa, they're coming to take me away, ho ho, hee hee, ha ha, to the happy home, where life is beautiful all the time, with basket weavers who sit and twiddle their thumbs and toes and they're coming to take me away, HA HAAAAAAA!

I'm not sure weather to laugh or be afraid...

I think the idea is good... maybe make 2 people be overall raters... so its either 2 thumbs up, thumb up/thumb down, or 2 thumbs down =P
However... I've been needing to use this 'smilie', and this is the perfect opportunity.

I've been trying to figure out an actually useful way of using the ratings system...
No luck. Institutionalisation... blah. Too many consonants. ;)
-
I prefer the open comments system. Keep it the way it is. Maybe we could add that to a separate section, such as the galleries, later... but let's not mess with the forums. :)

Open comments is just more flexible. I still want to figure out something with the stars, though; get thinking, people. :)

Make catagories of 'ratings'... with 5 stars as max (hey gotta follow w/ standards)
