Title: A couple of newbie questions
Post by: Alexp on December 29, 2009, 08:19:04 pm
I installed the campaign using the auto-installer and checked it out, but then I reformatted when I installed Windows 7.  So the second time I did the manual installation using the guide, but I no longer have the ability to select the original FreeSpace campaign.  What/where do I get these files?

Question 2:  What is the difference between fred2_open_3_6_10.exe and fred2_open_3_6_10d.exe ?

Thanks!

1. That you'll need to install from your original disks. The installer can no longer download it.

2. Files with "d" in them are debug builds. Don't use them unless you're actually debugging something.

I no longer have the ability to select the original FreeSpace campaign.
If by this you mean the "FreeSpace: The Great War" campaign and not "The main FreeSpace 2 campaign", you'll need FSPort (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=58357.0). Or alternatively the original FS1, which is available from Good Old Games and which MUST NOT BE INSTALLED OVER YOUR FS2.
