Posts with large images / posts which are otherwise too wide!
Sure, they should have used [lvlshot][/lvlshot] tags, but they didn't. But they way HLP handles them, you have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the current post to get to the scroll bar, and then back up to the image you want to look at. Or open the image in a new tab.
IMO this is not an acceptable workaround. I suggest something where the entire page expands, or where the images collapse unless individually toggled to expand (à la scifi-meshes.com). Preferably a solution where the horizontal scroll action on a touchpad will actually do something, as well.
Edit:
The onus shouldn't be on the poster, or on the viewer. Especially considering there are countless other websites that do it right.

the entire page expands
To me this is annoying too, since then I'd have to scroll back and forth to read the text of posts. Collapsing images sounds good though.
-
Or the entire post expands, and individual 'wide' posts could be expanded/collapsed.
-
I suggest something where the entire page expands...
That would annoy me. A lot.
-
Dude, I just responded to that exact point in the post above yours.
-
I needed to stress just how much it would annoy me.

So I take it whoever has the power and ability is too lazy and/or shortsighted to see to it this gets fixed?

Is there a way of replacing/adding a lvl shot button alongside the (http://1.2.3.13/bmi/hard-light.net/forums/Themes/HLP_11/images/bbc/img.gif) on the post reply options?

I tried to make img tags to use same downscaling method as lvlshot does, unfortunately this messes up with images in highlights at least if not anywhere else. Can't be arsed to mess with it any more.

Right.
Gave it a good go.

guilty as sin but not sentenced as the model redux thread is awesome

Actually I'm not too fond of the way lvlshot is setup. It would be much more useful if click on the pics would toggle fullsize/reduce.

I actually like the lvlshot tags fairly well.
