I'm FREDing and wondering if it is possible to create an asteroid field mid-mission. Can't find a SEXP for it, but I swear I saw it somewhere once.

Hmmm. . . . . . .
Sounds new. Which campaign was it in?
-
Sorry, I meant I thought I saw the option in FRED somewhere, just can't find it now.
-
its in the editor menu set at the top of the screen - asteroid filed shift+a, allows you to create an asteroid field, set nebula functions and theoretically subspace but if memory serves that used to crash retail FRED2 and i don't know if that was ever officially fixed
-
Right, but can I CHANGE any characteristics of the asteroid field mid-mission?
-
You can't.
As far as I'm aware there never was a way to add asteroids mid-mission.
-
Damn. Would be useful, given the current limitations of the asteroid field feature as a whole.

You can create an asteroid skybox and add a bunch of non-field asteroids. Not exactly a great solution but for a spread out field it can work.
Also you can already have the asteroid field in game out of visual and radar range and move the player to it.
