Title: Refugee from VBB
Post by: Nuclear1 on April 10, 2002, 10:46:42 am
VBB's going down and people are leaving. Figures... Anyway, I'm not precisely a newbie (not from my 200+ post count on the old place).

Let's hope all the people from VBB are not going to make their welcome thread.

Hey you (I'm talking with VBB veterans) post your welcomes here ok? :D

Oh Nuclear1, one more thingy...Exits are to the rear and left, in case of emergency. Shotguns are located under the seats. Thank ye for your time.

I mock your 200+ posts

Don't go near the air-vents and if you see anything black/shiny/penta-limbed/flamey near the air-vents run like hell.

'Tis a dark, dark day! Or at least 'twill be on the friday! I reached 189 posts on the old place, I never had the chance to reach 200! It's so unfair!:(

The VBB is dead! LONG LIVE THE VBB!

OK, maybe it is a little bit sad but still I can't see what some of you see in there. I was a member of VBB just because I didn't know there is HLP. I'll say it like this...

VBB is down :(  ...OK... Now let's go to HLPBB :D

All fighters stationed on-bord the HLP (the new flagship of the Freespace), you must provide escort for the escaping refugees from the VBB.

Razor signing off.

You've got no respect for the dead, we can't just replace it. We can't just "go down to the pound and get a new jazzman". It's not like that, it's the loss of an old friend.

I have respect for the dead people not for a hole with no moderator and trolls.

BTW this discussion is total spam. I'll now go and do something.

Hehe, I got about 800 posts on the VBB then I got IP banz0red. Then I got another 100 posts and got IP banz0red. Then I got bored and came to HLP (the only place where I've not been permenantly banned from.......except VWBB but that place is too slow to even bother visiting).

Hi all! :)  So the board is about to die but we can still keep this community together :)

Still no news on when we lose multi altogether?  It seems to be working at the moment.

I had 2 member names. I deleted the first one because I drived in to the newbie war and ALL started to flame me. I reached about 80 posts then. The second member name was good old ten of twelve, then I got about 60 posts. Then I found HLP. :D

It was bad when it ended, but now when people think of the VBB they'll think of the Golden Age, not the Dark Age :p

if some of you will continue in this way, this forum NEVER will even get the chance to only touch the sphere VBB has had :( - because here are still real FS veterans around and watching you..

Telling ones # of being banned from a BB is a great deal and is a real verification of the BB ! (NOT) - and the # of posts one did is real classification of worth, too! (NOT)

thanks for the ears - normally here I would set a smily - hmm - when checking this BB a little(?) bitterness is filling my mouth when reading the "great words" about VBB here - mostly from those who still were milk when we blew up the 1st waves of those red ships in an APOLLO or HORUS :) :(

The less your knowledge the worse your judgement..

Lol, don't worry about it, just don't post on anything that you did in the VBB, unless it was at first valid (none of that "Favorite Weapon?" crap) and you'll be fine...;)

Look, ever since about a year ago, the VBB has been going down the tube. Now the tube has ended. Period. The VBB used to be a good, worth-while board, but ever since that year ago, it's been turd. There's no "great words," to say about it, because it's been so long, most people can't even remember a "great word," about it;)

Really hate it when people dis the VBB. I've posted on both boards and I`ve had some very interesting discussions on the VBB.

The simple fact is that the VBB only lacked good moderation. Take that away from here and you`d probably see the place degenerate as quickly.

Now that the VBB has gone I`m looking forwards to seeing the best of the VBB discussions  on this board with the dross trimmed out.

I agree. It was a great place, but it went down the tubes.
I even managed to sign up at the end of the "glory days," and so I got to see a couple of those discussions....
However, the only problem is, most of those "best discussions" that were starting out when the place shut down have alread been discussed (sometimes at length) here.
Oh, well.;)

Im sure vBB had its times, but not since the time i joined it (which was about a year ago).  Every thread turned into a flame war within 20 posts.  That is one area where HLP is most definitely superior.  And Brummel, we're not exactly new to FS2 either.

Yeah.  They're the admins.  ;)

Although IMO, just because you've played FS since it first came out doesn't automatically make you a vet in many people's eyes.  To us, a vet is someone who's put into the community.  I'm not disputing your flying talents, anyone who reaches the admiral ranks on PXO has to have clocked some serious hours.

Calm down Brummel.  We are all equal here.  I have no interest in number of posts either.  I have no idea how many I clocked up.  But as number of posts doesn't make you more real an FS vet, neither does how long you played it.  We all play it to 'have fun'.

We never will be able to define the parts of the FS community and we cannot and shouldn't try to compare the efforts and work we did/do for it - and the theme here shouldn't distrace in any stupid comparison - lacking from less knowledge about the other one. I think we just did our efforts in different parts of the community.

We should work on holding the communtiy alive, and so the VBB is down the discussion will be executed on other places. I wish but I don't believe that we again will have s/t like that "central meeting point" - but nevertheless we should work on it, shouldn't we? Perhaps just this BB and it's admins have to be prepared to get a storm of new members - escorted by a storm of new attitudes and intentions of those posters.

During all of the last 3 years we had several attempts to start an independed BB, moderated by members of the biggest and most experienced squads/squadleaders - and always these efforts were wasted (the only surviving BB were/are those of the big squads/orgs themselves). One of my questions is whether we should try this again - or if we should use existing BB like this, or WS?  - if so, which one?

We all should have one common aim:
If we are smart enough and if we are prepared to show this, we NOW have to do so - and only on this way the community (hey, we are meant :)  )  not only gets the chance to survive, perhaps it even can get  an improvement. WE are those who are responsible.

THis post isn't meant as an attack but it's just 1 attempt to correct our direction of power, thanks.

These sorrows in mind made me write my 1st post in this topic, perhaps I could make myself a little more clear now- probably the sound was misunderstood - my fault.

if it was about the flaming, then they coulda have just moderated the forums. Most likely they just didn´t bother.

That would've required too much time, they said (I think). And check this (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,6719.0.html) thread, or directly this (http://www.volitionwatch.com/vwbb/s...=&threadid=5839) and this (http://www.volitionwatch.com/vwbb/s...=&threadid=5870) thread. ;)

Dude? Our independent board has been running over a year, no hiccups - in fact, we've been experiencing severe growth, especially recently... :)
