I don't have a problem with engaging the same class of fighter for ten minutes straight. At least I can get a lot of kills.
I don't have a problem with the Hades being a sitting duck. At least I'm not in a rush.
I don't have moral restrictions to take down escape pods when ordered (it's a game). I also don't care that they are immobile. At least I can grab two more kills at the end of the mission.
I don't have a problem with receiving one Fenris and 5 Ursas as reinforcements against the largest space ship that humanity has seen until that point in the continuity. The mission can be done with even less.
I don't have a problem with the mission having only a few events and even fewer in-mission messages. The plotline and the mission wasn't complex enough to justify more. At least I can concentrate on my mission without having to split my attention to listen to some random chatter.
I don't have a problem with the 2/3(?) briefing stages that I receive - they're informative enough.
What I hate about that mission is that it's unpredictable! On one run through, I lose all my wingmen during the attack on the Jotunheim. On the next, I manage through the entire mission with losing only two bombers. I was flying with the default dogfight loadout for both runs. Every time I replay ST, this is what happens.

Yeah, I've had a playthrough or two where the bombers do fantastic work cleaning up against the Hades, but most of the time, I have to resort to the old "hide in the engine pylon" trick and rubber-band my trigger down. Thank goodness for ST:R, right? :p
-
/me makes mental note not to repeat the mistakes ST made.
Hmm, ST was kinda bad, I wonder if anyone ever thought about fixing it? ;)
-
That's why we have STR.

You know if you answer a rhetorical question, you accomplish nothing, right?

Why would anyone answer a rhetorical question? With a rhetorical question no less. . . . :warp:

Apparently, he didn't identify it as a rhetorical question. :P

I've checked some of the ST missions with Ctrl-Shift-W... is it me or NONE OF THEM has a ****ing nebula implemented?
-
They're for the FS1 engine. The FSPort just converted them to FS2.
-
Nebula? You mean backgrounds? And is this in FS1, or FSPort? 'Cause FSPort didn't spend much time on things like that.

I've meant the background nebulae, of course. And I was playing Port.
Does the original have backgrounds?
-
FS1 and FS2 have different kinds of backgrounds; we would have had to create new backgrounds for Silent Threat, and decided instead to leave the ported campaign as-is and apply all enhancements to Silent Threat: Reborn.

I see. So the original had FS1 backgrounds (and not total blackness) and it wasn't redone with FS2 backgrounds in the Port. Thx.

Someone brought up .neb files the other day. If someone wanted to sort through all of that jazz you might be able to implement FS1 style nebula in FSO.
