Hello dear people, Starships salutes you again.
I our six month long trek we added a lot of ships to our website. 641 to be precise. Most of them are FreeSpace related, and we would like to thank the community. We've hunted down all the ships we could. So here is my announcement to you!
THE GREAT HUNT Begins!!
We challenge you to find ships we missed! To find FreeSpace related ships that we have not seen, that are rare, barely known or that you didn't ever release! We do this to complete the challenge of compiling the biggest and most complete FS ship list ever!
If you have spotted such a ship, you can either add it yourself to the website, or post a link here to a place where we can download it and we will add it for you!
Please do help! This website wasn't made by us for us, it was made by us for you, all of you.
Also, we invite the editors of the FreeSpace wiki to update their ship list! We will be glad to help!
Thank you very much and lots of luck,
For FreeSpace!

There's an awful lot of missing screens of these ships, with names I've never seen so I'd wager I've never actually seen these ships, I'm amazed there's this many FreeSpace ships.
-
The pictures are back up and running! Everybody, PLEASE DO HELP!!
Also to be noted, everyone who will help adding a new ship on StarShips will receive his own personal StarShips badge from me!
Godspeed Modelers!
-
A starship badge, eh? Who can resist?
-
By the number of ships submitted to me it looks like everybody. Really, this is getting disappointing.
-
Wikis do not simply fill up with contributions over night, you know. Patience, young Editor, patience.
-
7 months was a long time to have patience. Still, I will listen to your advice.

For some, obscure reason, I read 'Editor' as 'Eldar'.
... GENIUS! I shall add 40K ships into the wiki!
-
Very funny Storm, very funny :doubt:
-
Hey, just because they are cities with engines that doesn't mean they aren't space ships.
-
...More like giant cathedrals of doom... :p
-
your point being?
-
City-sized cathedrals of doom flying in space are technically space ships.
-
guess so. It kinda depends, but I still don't see the relevance
-
They're still space ships. And 40K is most definitely Sci-Fi. Plus there are quite a number of them.
-
Ok, I finally understood what you meant. Well, if they fly through space to get there, be my guest. Same can go to Starcraft Terran buildings if you want.
-
Maybe add all the Freelancer ships as well. Heres the discovery wiki.
http://www.discoveryfl.com/wiki/
Sure I'm not very popular there :nervous: or here for that matter but I'm a solid fan of FL.
-
I will at one point in time and space. Don't know when. If you want, give me a hand. But then again, I now need FreeSpace ships that I missed. If you wish you can check the FreeSpace wiki here on the site and see ships that they don't have, as StarShips currently only has about 20-25 ships over what FreeSpace wiki has.
But I need ships that I missed!
-
The GTF Vampire is missing, or the search engine got busted.
http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/GTF_Vampire
-
Well, go add it!
-
Ok, got both versions of the Archangel in there... think I'll keep looking for any capital ships that may have been overlooked. Is there any info available on the Gargant? Should I even bother putting that monster in there?
[Edit]: Wow. Funny, thinking that something that obvious was skipped over.
[Edit mk2]: The search function on the Starships wiki isn't too good. Just throwing that out there.
[Edit the 3rd]: Woo! Finally found something that WAS actually glossed over- the GTB Hydra.
-
Well, go add it!
Well, I did :P:D
Too bad that I am really bad at this wiki thing. At least it's better than nothing.
EDIT: If someone is willing to edit it, feel free to do so.
-
First of all the Vampire, Archangel and all those are already added. Please read the front page, then you go to the FreeSpace and there you have the lists on the right. Use them with confidence. The new pages added that already have a corespondent on the wiki will be erased.

Second of all I will personally kill the person that adds the Hydra again. Table hacks and re: textures do not make a new ship. So no such things there.
Third of all, glad to see you guys around. It's very nice to see you all and I appreciate your help. I apologize for not being around(I'm gmt+2 and I was sleeping) and I also apologize for the useless search function(can't quite do anything about it).
As for the Freelancer and other universes... It takes time to do that. It took 7 months to make the FreeSpace part. They will be added, you have my word on that!
Good Hunting guys!

:( Just trying to help...
-
I understand Iron, and I'm sorry for being a little bit brutal and not mentioning the hack/texture thing before.
Your help is very much appreciated. Believe me, I couldn't be happier ATM, as I've been working for a lot of time here, and finally someone helps. It makes me feel great!
Good hunting!

Ok, I took a couple minutes to digest your comment, and a thought struck me: what are the standards for an entry into the wiki?
Does the ship need a unique model? An appearance in a mission or campaign? I feel that some well-spelled-out standards could save a bit of work on both sides of the Starships wiki.
-
Yes, technically it has to be a new model. As I already said, no table hacks/re:textures. Also, it has to be textured and released(I think I broke that once or twice).
A couple more standards: not appearing in other sci-fi universes (for example taking the X-Wing, renaming it and saying it's from FreeSpace, or taking a ship you made for another sci-fi universe and transforming it into a FreeSpace ship).
You can go for revamping and older model, but that can go two ways: making an HTL model/better texturing and you add it to the old model page, or making something sort of a Mk 2 that has a new entry.
Appearing in a mission or a campaign is not important, but needs to be mentioned.
Also, please use the categories. I will help with that if you need help.
If you have any more questions, I stand at your service!
Also, is there anyone who has the Hades Combine materials or a very very large User Made ship collection on his hard drive who might let me take a 30 minute stroll through their computer via TeamViewer?

Also, is there anyone who has the Hades Combine materials or a very very large User Made ship collection on his hard drive who might let me take a 30 minute stroll through their computer via TeamViewer?
....Excuse me? Are you quite mad?
-
Well either that, or someone that will upload the Hades Combine materials or a very very large User Made ship collection.
Choose which one is less mad. Mainly if got all the ships I could find, but I think I missed some of the really old ships.
-
Uploading a file collection to some neutral server (mediafire et al, or fsmods) is certainly preferable in my mind to letting $RANDOM_INTERNET_PERSON run around on my hard drive.
-
Yes E, I'm an evil person who has spent 7 months making a wiki just for the fun of wrecking a computer.
Well then, can you please upload your very very large User Made collection to FS mods?
-
Look, if someone I know personally wants to do that, I'm fine with it. If I have to call tech support, and they need to do that, I'm fine with it.
You are, in effect, an unknown person. Basic Paranoia suggests that letting you run around on my PC is a bad idea.
As for my ship collection, I don't have one. Everything I have can be found on fsmods or other sources here on HLP.
-
I was only going to go through the FS folder and under strict supervision of the owner, but I do understand. Anyway, do you have any idea who would have such a collection?
