Title: Hunting possible problem...
Post by: Rodo on January 14, 2010, 02:04:42 pm
So... a couple of days back I was posting round here about a problem with my FPS dropping while turning my ship, the thing is that it seems like FPS dropping but apparently it's not that

I was suggested to run a debug build to find possible problems on my FS2 installation, so here I am, hoping someone can give me a hand with it, I mean, it's kinda annoying having some of my frames dropped while running the game, I finally have a decent hardware and I can't seem to play this 100% though

anyways... attached fs2_open.log from build 3.6.10 final.

Is it fixed with 3.6.11 builds?

You mean if the FPS apparent dropping goes away using a Nightly or a 3.6.11 build?

If that's what you mean then no, the problem is still there in newer builds.

I experienced this myself with 3.6.10 final; I think I eventually came to the conclusion that it was being triggered by some specific sort of texture or effect, although I couldn't track down which type.  It didn't seem to pop up on one of the recent nightlies I tried, though I don't think I played with it long enough to be definitively sure.

I had the impression the problems where caused by the nebulae, but only because the FSP drop occur while passing through them, still... I could be totally wrong.
