Well?

Well it depends, if people are here just for FS related stuff, as long as guys are making mods and renders, if this really is the community I think it is, it just might last a bit longer and evolve

Forever and ever and ever! We get new games once FS really dies and Steak's kids could be admins! :D

Seriously, I don't like talking about the downfall of HLP because it makes me so sad to think that one day we'll all be gone from here...

I dunno. Where's that option?

HLP can last well more than 5 years if a new game as moddable as FS can be found.

I will shoot myself when HLP collapses.

Edit- think of Node Wars. If it can become really popular that's an extra year!

Hmm... well back when Setekh and I first started this thing we deliberatly stayed away from joining 3DAP as Planet Freespace because that would put us in a box that would be impossible to expand out from. Right now we can do what we like at any second, if Freelancer was released tomorrow we could be heavily covering it within a couple of weeks - thats how handy it is to be dynamic as we are. However so far our main focus has been Freespace, and (evidently) fans continue to flock in and want more ;)

I don't see this place closing for some time in the future...

Except GS would kick us in the shins, because there's a Freelancer site here already.  ;)

Let me put it this way. It is those who visit HLP and these Forums that make what HLP is today. As long as we are around it will take a long time before HLP vanishes.

Depending on where the VBB trolls migrate to, HLP could be entering a very dark time in the next few weeks/days/hours.

Nah, we have a fair setup here - it's worked so far and I'm confident that it'll continue to work for us in the future.

No ship will protect you from the nail side of the thumb ;)

And I see your point, but I've tried to cut back on thread locking lately - and yes if people come here and flame or spam or mis-use the forums then I'll lock the threads, I don't particularly care about my personal image so long as the majority of the HLP community is happy with the way the forums are run. And since your all here I guess you are

Besides, I'm not the only moderator around here... I mean technically I shouldn't even be doing anything right now but it's the holidays so I get a little free time.

I like the fact spam topics are locked so quickly, it keeps this a tidy place with friendly people.

Well, some of the spam actually lasts... it's the FLAME topics that are closed in an eyeblink. And that's good.

HLP should last a good... forevar!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

That is, if we continue covering new games, finding new games - we'll keep on. And don't forget the renders, unless digital art goes extinct ( ) we'll have plenty of that...

HLP will be around for ages, but I doubt it will always be a FS orientated place.

All the above stuff is right IMO, and as far as some spam topics staying open... that's true - but there's much more "good" topics than there are "pure" spam topics so it balances out ok.

If we do find another game..Independence War 2 was nice but not quite the FreeSpace 2 killer it could've been. The physics and stuff make it a bit less accessible, it's more of a "niche" game.

I know... as someone (mikhael, I guess) already said, the signal to noise ratio is a good way into the green. :)

I'm not sure how much of that is a compliment and how much of it is an insult ;)

I couldn't have said it better myself. Wait, yes I could! :D No, seriously, T just echoed what I was thinking then. Because we are HLP (We Are All HLP), we get to do just about anything we want... so long as we where shinguards. I have a fresh box. :D

FL and SL are already covered by the Lancers' Reactor (http://www.3dap.com/lancer). IG3... hmmm, we'll see. :)
