I've installed FS2 and it runs fine, but every time I try to patvh the game so I can run the crack, I get a message that says "Old file not found, however a file with the same name was found. Patch not done because the files do not match" or something like that. Any help will be appreciated

Where did you get FS2 from?
...If you got it from GOG, this might help:
I encountered a case where viewing the retail .exe from the outside listed it as version 1.0.0.1. However, upon going into the options screen, FS2 (retail) was listed as version 1.2. Try this: you may not need a patch after all.

:wtf: So... where did you get your FS2?

I got it from Isohunt. It may not be retail. I've tried to just crack it, but it says that the version is not 1.2

First up, Pirating FS2 is frowned upon. 6$ will get you the game legitimately.
No support will be provided by me for pirated games.

I'm also reluctant to help you if you've just downloaded the game off the net. You should see a "Buy FS2" link in my signature. If you click it, you'll end up at Good Old Games. They sell a lot of DRM-free games (legally) for low prices. You can buy FS2 from there for $5.99. Do that and then we can talk business.

Don't expect any help here

I've bought a copy off of GOG and I'm waiting for it to get here. Normally I don't torrent, but I just couldn't wait! :D I'll wait and see how the bought copy goes.

Awesome! You are a hero and a good man.
We should give you a medal of good conduct.

Edit: I was going to say something but now I'm not sure about anything.
SATSUGAI.

:wtf:
When you buy something from GOG, you can download it immediately after buying it. There's no need to wait. I see no reason why you'd need to torrent something in the meanwhile...

I take it downloading things takes time. Not that I know anything about GOG's download speeds these days.

Forgive me, but I'm still suspicious
-
Thanks. Sorry to get off on the wrong foot. :sigh: I'll definitely be around. I first played this game in 2000 when I was 10. I'm 20 now, and I still haven't forgotten it. As for the download? Lets just say it's going to take more than overnight. I'm working with an epic fail of a connection
-
Righto... I suppose that can be worked with.
My advice would just be to wait for the download to complete then - The GOG version is properly patched.
...What confuses me is why you could get the torrent up and going so seemingly fast while not being able to get the legal version at a comparable speed. Did you get this from a friend, perhaps?

MODERATOR POWERS, ACTIVATE!
My advice is to drop this topic right now. It can go nowhere but wrong.

Torrented it at a friend's house. I don't have a flash drive big enough to transfer it and I'm flat broke. I figured rather than doing it illegally fast, I might as well wait and do it the right way. I'm fully intent on Deleting the torrent. All it's caused is problems. I'm against pirating. PERIOD.

And with that, I'm locking this. Dreihkon, if you encounter problems after doing a proper install, feel free to make a new thread right here.
