Hello I'm looking for some modern Vasudan capships (Sobek and Hatshepsut style). What I need is a destroyer (that is not a Hedetet) and a Corvette (that is not a Wepwawet) ?
I also look for some big Vasudan ship for their flagship (super destroyer, Juggernat or Command ship, but not Tanen carrier).
I checked some ships at FreespaceMods and User-made Wiki but there is nothing interesting enough.
P.S "Do it yourself" answer is a big no no.
-
Well you could always try re-texturing the Ancient capital ships from the ASW modpack, I'm sure that would get you somewhere at least.
-
The AD Achladia was originally a Vasudan destroyer in a modeldump, to expand on Snail's suggestion.
I wouldn't use the tentacled stuff though.

Do you remember which one?
-
It was a half-mesh (needed to be mirrored) in one of Aldo's modeldumps. Probably modeldump 3.
EDIT: Correction - it's in modeldump 5, named gvca_8.max
-
Actually, just playing with the ASW model reveals it transitions back very well to Typhon style textures even with just a simple modelview retexture job. Give that a go Mr Who.
-
We didn't do anything to that particular model other than add turrets.
-
Stratcomm's Vasudan ships would be a way to go, but they're unreleased.
For a Juggernaut, try the Khonsu: http://freespacemods.net/download.php?view.504
-
The Khonsu's probably not a great choice, as it's just a "kitbash" ship. Try browsing the Wiki's "User-Made Ships" index.

This (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/GVD_Hathor) is what I was talking about before.

Wow that looks pretty decent, surprisingly.
-
Yeah, I normally wouldn't bother releasing a reskin likw that, but it really turned out well in this case. Kudos to the original mapper I suppose.
-
That'd be FSF. (the model in the dump was not completely mapped, and had to be re-mapped).
-
:pimp:
-
I made a modern hull reskin:

Looks good, but use Mediavps.
-
The main tile looks too large on this one, the typhon-like tile fit better IMHO, especially given that this ship has a more Typhon-like shape than a Hatshep-like.
-
Yeah, on a ship that big, extra surface detail is necessary.
-
I have had this one for a few months. It's Vasudan-ish, and pretty big. Four km long or something. It is unfinished.

Blinks.
That doesn't look even vaguely Vasudan to me. At all.
-
Really! If the Vasudans built Juggernauts, that's what they would look like.
-
:blah:
If you say so.
-
I completely encourage you to keep modeling, bobbtman, but for the moment it looks like something I'd buy for my bath. :p
-
...Makes for great Vasudan Space Soap debris or a Space Termite Colony, though... :P
Or a potato chip... :nervous:
:D
-
Actually, that's a pretty solid rock formation.
Needs a few more details to look like a ship though.
-
My vote's for ptatoic hips.

Sandwich vs potato ship chip fighters!

Y'know, with the right greebling and some really good texture variation, it could have potential. After all, the ISD is just a wedge, right?
-
FreespaceFreak - When I made the zip for upload, I didn't know specifically who had done the texturing work, so I credited the pof to "The Ancient-Shivan War team". If you want, I can change it so it's more specific to you?
Mr. WHO - You seem to have run into the same problem I did with the low repeat count on the main texture. I ended up making a mirrored, 4x larger typhon tile (That's what capital-01r is) to try to hide it, but that was, at best, only semi-successful - it still looks more corvette sized than destroyer sized. With yours, without upsizing the textures, you're going to get some really serious pixellation of those textures up close, and you have an even bigger sense-of-scale issue, IMO. But if you like it, more power to you.

Hey bob don't get me wrong, I think it has potential. But it needs a lot more details and texture variation to make it look like a ship. Turrets, windows, subsystems, greebles...

Nah, it's fine. Droid did most of the converting work anyways.

Yes, that's an issue; the map we have doesn't tile properly, so I've had to stretch it quite a bit :nervous:

Still not perfect, but much better than previous:

With armour plates that big, you'd probably be better of making them a part of the geometry.

True.
But the point was a quick solution that didn't require extra modelling or conversion.

Looks like a rock formation.
And I like mrWho's retex attempts thus far.
-
I'm partial to the Typhon-esque one, myself. The details are necessary.
-
Maybe, but I've never really liked how the Typhon's textures looked. I much rather preferred the newer Vasudan ships' textures.
