Forgive me, I'm new here. :)
I have a question relating to the controls.
By default, steering your ship is done via the number pad. However, I have a laptop and there is no number pad. I know I can change the control layout, but my laptop's buttons are kind of cramped so it's awkward no matter what I set them to (not to mention control conflicts).
So...
Is there any way I can steer using my mouse? I tried choosing "mouse on" but it didn't seem to do anything.
ALSO: Are these forums (or at least this one in particular) very active on a regular basis?

Well, yes. :p
Welcom to the HLP, man!
-
Well then... Lol.
Is there some way to steer my ship with my mouse? If so... How? :P
Oh, and thanks for the welcome. :D

I'm not a mouse player, so I can't help you, but I'm 100% sure it's possible.
-
Do you have any idea how to enable it, or have you done it before (even by mistake)?
EDIT: ...Anyone? Lol, did every decide to go to bed? :O
Haha. That's what I'm going to do now... I'll check back tomorrow.
Thanks to those that helped so far, and thanks to those that help in the future. :)

In the controls menu you can activate mouse control. But to be honest... if you really want a good steering experience, get a cheap 10 bucks joystick somewhere.
The mouse steering is a bit awkward.

You mean options menu. Under control you can set the different keybindings IIRC.
Anyway I agree a Joystick works much better.
Mh has anyone tried if gamepads are supported? Might not have enough buttons but at least small joysticks or what they are called on a gamepad ^_^

You can play Saga using Xbox 360 gamepad. Worked for me when I was playtesting a mission on vacation. ;)
-
I don't have a 360. :(
In the options menu, I see "Mouse On/Off"
I turned it to "On" but it doesn't seem to do anything.
EDIT: A quick restart of the game seems to have made the mouse work.
Now, how can I un-invert the y axis?

Xbox 360 controllers are i believe USB and you can get drivers for them for the PC

Launch FS2. Go to "Options", "Control Config". Select "Ship". Go to where it says "Pitch Axis", at the very bottom. It should say something like "Joystick/Mouse Y Axis". Highlight that and look to the bottom left where it says "Alt" "Shift" and "Invert". Select "Invert" and enjoy.

It works! I can actually play it now! HAHA! Sucess!
Thanks, everyone. :D
Now I just need to work on the "being good at the game" part. I messed up mission 2... Twice in a row for not holding formation. >.<
