The topic is a bit confusing. Are you asking about building a PC for old games or are you asking about FSO-related problems? FSO-related problems do belong here, but if you just want opinions on hardware 'n stuff, you should really do that at General Discussion.

Several people are known to have installed and played FSO on Windows 7. OpenAL is always needed with FSO.
