I was thinking of making a campaign, the problem is that i need to add more ships than to engine will allow, so i need to run an Inferno build. I don't need to use the INF ships with freespace 2, i just want to use the normal freespace 2 ships with more space for new ships. How do i run Inferno with mediavps? I think i need to use a mod.ini, i just ned to know how to set it up to run both Inferno and mediavps.

No, you just need to download an Inferno version of the engine.
It actually has nothing to do with the Inferno mod.

Alternatively, all nightly builds have included Inferno packages for the past 100 revisions at least.

And as an aside, it is hoped that 3.6.12 (while featuring a non-INF build) will emphasise the downloading of the INF based builds because (I believe) the plan is that starting with 3.7.0, the INF values will become the _default_ values and thus no longer require a separate or special build.

Thanks. By the way, jow do i run Fred2 (with inferno build) using actual ship models. Wireframe models run slowly on my computer.

If a regular build complains about too many ship or weapon classes when trying to load the mod, then yes.
