We, the undersigned, are of the opinion that this thread (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=53068.0) does not contribute to the history or culture of HLP and that it should be removed from the Classics.
-
/signed.
-
Yeah, something like that is not funny at all.
-
I signed it.
like ^Dante
-
Agreed. It's un-classic; it needs to go somewhere else.

-
It's funnier and more original than Talk Like A Pirate Day, but not classic.
-
The only reason it is in the classics is because thesizzler moved it there. The comedian shouldn't be the one judging whether something is classic or not.
Letting this stay there is just saying to me "anyone with mod powers can move anything to classics"
-
In my opinion,
- Funny? Yes.
- April fools related? Yes.
- Classic? No.
I could move it (and hot piss, I'd sure want to), but I'm convinced that if I did something to provoke the wrong people, someone would probably come and kick my bike at night.
-
My point is, Classic threads are supposed to "significantly contribute to the culture and history," which is something this thread doesn't do.
-
I wouldn't have put it there myself, personally.
I've moved it back. If thesizzler complains, he can post his justification in this thread and I'll reconsider it.
-
Goob, have you considered Classicing a few new threads? The woutersmits event, maybe?
-
Woutersmits has contributed to the culture of HLP.
-
I also sign this petition, and note that not only is it not a classic, it is also not classy. :nervous:

This. The completely meta-thread was pretty good too.
-
So PM some links to me (or any of the other admins), or post them here. :p

So... this is where the "you most make update" phrase comes from. :D
Good thread, and people has been using "you most make (an) update" elsewhere, I'd put that into the Classics.

It is (and has always been) "you most make an update". And "creases".

Neither of these threads meets the six-month rule. :p

Seconded anyway.
-
/me has voted.
Aye. Remove it if it hasn't been done already.
I was thinking that Nuclear's recent drunk thread (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=66953.0) should be added in, but it's too recent and doesn't do anything for HLP culture (except maybe point out that 1) we tend to make fun of drunkards; and 2) Hades is unpleasant).

Personally I'd think that one drunk classic is enough.

Seconded anyway.
how the HELL did you guys carry that on for NINE pages?
high marks for execution, but low for originality.
-
Nine pages is less than 200 posts. :nervous:

Pfftt ... nine pages is nothing. Check out this thread (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=19852.0).
-
I'm sure I locked that. . . Something weird is up.
-
Lock it before someone bumps it.
-
I'm on a train in a tunnel. Lock it for me plox.
-
Man, I'd forgotten all about WITTY THREAD TITLE. I'm cracking up just skimming through it again.
-
http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=66357.0
That is seconded.
-
It was funny after the fact.
And I still think the "OT- Religion" thread should be added. Like it or not, it was the defining thread of early HLP. Pretty much everyone who mattered back then got involved in it.

NOTATION HOW THREAD WAS A RIPOFF[/quote] (http://bash.org/?23396)

I would call it "a homage".

EXPRESSION OF APPROVAL AND ADHERENCE TO THE QUOTED POST.
FRUSTRATED RANT ABOUT MISSING IT BACK ON ITS DAY.
UNFUNNY AND DERAILING JOKE THAT NOBODY GETS.
ARROGANT AND UNFOUNDED ASSERTIONS.
USELESS ATTEMPT TO APPEAR HUMBLE AFTER ARROGANT AND UNFOUNDED ASSERTIONS.

QUESTION ABOUT WHETHER THAT WARNING REFERS TO MODS/ADMINS UNLOCKING IT, OR TO PEOPLE POSTING SIMILAR POSTS/THREADS.

FORCED MEME IS FORCED. :p
-
Yea it has shot past the expiration date
-
New thread for this petition, please.
-
Alright guys, don't get an attitude.
Jesus! I was just trying to have some fun.
OK, I'll shut up now.
-
I think you see my point. Every once in a while we get people trying to start the thread up again in other discussions. While as a single response or two that might be funny, in most cases it's simply spam and will be treated as such.

That's exactly the reason why I was asking. I saw other members doing it without anyone complaining so I thought it wasn't really that serious.
OK. so it's not funny anymore. I got the point. I made a mistake. I apologize.
You're an admin, so I assume you can delete my posts if they are really so disruptive as to be considered spam. ;)
-
Around here, posts are not deleted. Just ridiculed.
-
But you will not be ridiculed, you're fine. Don't worry.
-
Poes law again?
What happened to pew pew pew?
-
You weren't around when the beer hit the meatballs with garlic sauce. Plenty of pew here.
-
Funny thing is that he has the exact same Custom Title as Liberator.

a) You don't get the joke
b) Don't explain the joke
-
It's a).
-
Read the Battutology thread.
Look up Poe's Law.
-
Funny thing is that he has the exact same Custom Title as Liberator.
I've known all along what Poe's Law is. But I just got this joke. Nice one.
-
Funny thing is that he has the exact same Custom Title as Liberator.
FACT
BATTUTA AND LIBERATOR ARE THE SAME PERSON
MY GOD HOW DID WE NOT SEE IT BEFORE
-
Have we ever seen the posting at the exact same time?
-
So, simply put, Battuta's good at stealth parody? :nervous:
-
And I was scolded because I was derailing this topic with bad jokes...
-
I don't like the rolleyes emoticon it pisses me off.

With all due respect, I'm not going to stop using it because you don't like it.
In fact, I don't like this forum's emoticons either, but they are there for a reason.
Now, I would like to have a rolleyes variant that was a bit more upset and a bit less arrogant (but just a bit :p ), but there's only one available.
-
I don't like the rolleyes emoticon it pisses me off.
I mean, neither do I. I suppose you could always Adblock it.
-
Goober once told me off for using it in three consecutive posts.
Now, before this topic gets locked, is this (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=69478.0) worthy? It's a remake of a thread already in the Classics, so I don't know if it is or not.
-
No, it's not. One, as you pointed out, it's a remake. Two, it's waaaaayyyyy too young.
-
For the umpteenth time, just because you like a thread does not automatically make it a Classic.
