Title: Male CG voice?
Post by: FreespacePilot2010 on February 07, 2010, 05:25:17 pm
Is there anyway to change a male characters voice so that it sounds male instead of the standard computer generated female voice? Its kind of weird when male characters sound like a woman. It would be useful for my mission im making.

No. Text-to-speech uses voices provided with the OS. You can set Microsoft Sam or Microsoft Mary or whatever, but you can't mix them.

Unless you recorded Text-To-Speech output and used it as 'voice acting' for the lines.

Thanks for letting me know.I was hoping that I could mix them. But Ill try using text to speech as voice recording instead. There are a few free text to speech with mp3 output programs that ive found.

Speakonia is my favourite. Combine with audacity for all your needs.

Google provides both :)

I hesitate to mention this software, but perhaps you could convince the publishers to let you use a few clips.

Granted, they seem pretty serious about the "personal use" and ""minimal commercial impact" aspects; I'm sure none of us would want to test the precise meaning of those phrases. Caveat emptor.
