Think we could get a fixed normal Athena for FS Port next? I'd love to see the canopy issue, the extraneous gun bank, and missing engine thruster problems resolved!

Ouch..have to finish that one too. I've got so many stuff on the backburner, I keep forgetting :P
It's partially textured already, so I'll see if I can wrap it up.
Think we could get a fixed normal Athena for FS Port next? I'd love to see the canopy issue, the extraneous gun bank, and missing engine thruster problems resolved!
I'll see what I can do about that. The canopy issue is a conversion error. The mesh has a properly set-up canopy.

Do you think maybe you could take a look at the GTF Falcon? It's been crashing in 3.6.10 a fair bit lately, bit of a shame cause I hoped to use it in my Cerberus campaign revival. The Perseus ADV. still works, so I'm using that.

Could you be more specific? Run a debug build and see what it tells you. Also, what version of the Falcon are you using?

Remind me, the bomber is the Maelstrom? Is that its name?

Armaggedon.
Maelstorm is of similar size, but it was made by Nuke and looks a bit strange.

The Falcon did have a mesh issue. It lacked the shield mesh. That was rectified and the latest version was uploaded on Freespacemods. It should work.

It's a good ship, very reliable and pretty. My only thing I disapprove of is those square box turret things for the Laser/AAAF beam turrets. I mean......they don't look very turrety, you know.

Also, I think that Thunderbolt could use a little update, especially it's cannon.
You could even make it separate from the model and assigned as a weapon's external.

Currently? Zero.
That was just a test of the mesh. I still got greeble to add and lots of turrets.

It's very close to being done.
Currently sits at roughly 10000 polys atm, but I want to add a bit more stuff to ti.
Should have roughly the same number of guns with similar positioning as the stock Collie. But it will have at least 4 LRBGreens by default.

Just a passing question and suggestion here, TrashMan: Why 4 LRBGreens? Perhaps it may be better to leave it at retail Colossus armaments and release that way, so that it can easily replace the retail Colossus in the same way the HTL Ulysses replaced the GTF Ulysses. If anyone wants extra firepower on the Colossus, let them do the modifications themselves.

I believe Galemp (or is it Ragingloli?) and company are working on a very detailed model of the Collie to replace the standard model. So, though that's not a bad thought, I think waiting out for the purpose-built replacement isn't a bad idea. Heck, maybe the rendering engine will have been rebuilt by then?

Now that is one highly detailed and huge model. You have a very beautiful crown Gem, Trashman, if I may say so.
I'd love to see this replacing the current Colossus in the MediaVPS. Last I heard though, there is, or was at least, a MediaVPS mode in the works or set aside for the MK 1. Can't garuntee it, it's uncertain. So, will just have to wait and see what happens?
Can I ask if have you ever considered HTLing the SCa Shiamak? I'm just curious....at least that's one reason why I ask.

As I said, I'll keep the turret count and positioning close to the original, just in case. Armament can easily be tweaked.
As for HTL-izing another ship. Right now I've got my sights set on the GVFg Udjat as a possible candidate.

You mean the GVCv Udjat? Oh yes, I would definately love to see that revitalized. It has great potential as a corvette, just wants that HTLization to make it shine.
I was just wondering about the Shiamak cause I was looking to use it in my Cerberus campaign revitalization, and well, if one was being done.....you get my point. Never mind, I'll look around elsewhere.

Actually I thought the Shiamak had a pretty good polycount for its size already, and Tides of Darkness gave it a nice map job.

suggestion: methinks doing it like what you did with the Orion release would be a good idea, a near-stock one for anyone replacing the Colossus, then maybe another one for whatever you intended to do... random example: a so-called 84/86-turret "closer-to-cutscene" version with extra fighter bays (or whatever floats your boat since it's your release anyhow, just giving an example).
$0.02 thought since turrets are not something that can be freely added into a table. XD

Then you get to the second screenshot where you discover that the bow is twig-thin for its size, and as you go along the hull it gets wider...and wider...and wider...

It's modeled off of a :v: concept, not so much to replace the existing low-poly colossus as to stand on its own.

That's the MK. 2 Schematic? Jeez, now that is something. We're talking about a very, very different model here. I mean, look at that and the original Colossus. There are some major differences. :nod:

UV mapping it? I hate working with multiple texture mapping in 3D Max...hate it.
I'll use TS exclusively for the Collie. Whats with all the tile texturing hate anyway? For multi-kilometer ships that's a good approach.

Seeing as you are HTLing your designs, I thought of one that might be worthwhile. The GVB Anhur. I found it quite likable as a futurisitc Vasudan Bomber.
Reckon you could HTL and shield icon it?

Necroing this thread to bring some news.
Resumed work on the Archangel Mk3. Have trouble deciding with turrets to use, will post screenshots of them, so you can help me choose. I basicly have 3 anti-capital turret sized.
The massive ones (8 main one and missile launcher), the really big ones (8 turrets, 4 on each side), and the very big ones (4-6 on the sides).
I have fusion (plasma/blob) and coilgun (think blue planet mass drivers on the frigates) variants, but can't decide which to make the bigger ones and which to make the smaller ones. Also I have 3 different turret base and 3 different barrel variations (with any combination being 1500-200 polys per turret)
Also, I'm in the process of merging the Colli mk2 so it has less subobjects and improving some greebling on it.

You got the tri-barreled, terran-blob like, but bigger.
You got 4 different bases and 2(3, since there are 2 variotion of the fusion cannon barrels) barrels. I?m having trouble deciding which combo to use where.
As for where:
The second biggest turrets would be positioned here. (I'm thinking maybe coilguns here)

Oh yes. I've been hoping for object translation for a while now.

Now, again, we can do translation - either way is hackish, but one more so than the other.
(a.) Involves placing the rotation point way out there... that's bad.
(b.) Involves making a hinge or actuator of sorts, which might be a bit more intensive, but seems a little more viable in my mind. I know Nuke or Aardwolf put out a tech demo of this technique a while ago, showing the actuator open and close a door...

Good news - found the Armageddon scene and resumed work on FS stuff.
Atm I'm working on:
GTGb Praetorian (constructing a more detailed model)
GTB Lightbringer (constructing a more detailed model)
GTTB Armageddon (new model done, creating a texture)
Archangel (currently texturing)

So I'm experimenting with various textures and creating new textures that fit the ship better. The ship itself is going to be a b***, so I'm focusing on weapons ATM. the image above shows the missile hatches and a test image of the main turret color scheme (temp image, texture is in the process of being changed)

Fighters/bombers will be UV mapped, fcourse.
The Praetorian probably too.
The Archangel? Probably a mix of tile and UV mapping...
Oh..the Pocket Destroyer...completley forgot about that one...and that's an older image. It got a bit more detail now..Thanks for reminding me about that one. I'll see about finishing it too, atlough that one is not on my priority list.

Hmm, ok. I'm very interested on that destroyer, it's looks like a cool hybrid of Galaxy and Orion. It would be perfect for my 2nd project as a carrier [fits perfectly to your Orion Mk.II]. Did you think about make that destroyer more... Orionish? :)

Yes, the main guns are the core of the battleship. But since they're that big (corvette-sized), I'm beginning to wonder if a 1024x1024 texture will be enough for them...

After reading this thread I got all hyped up to play FOW. Where do I find FOW_ModelsPack.vp that's listed in the readme? Or do I use the models in FoW_COTS?

I still don't know what it will be in my mod. Corvette [after rescaling] or carrier.

This thing has 3 hangars, all of the same size. The initial concept had just one large hangar at the very front, but it didn't look quite right.
