Title: Does ne1 no where i can find this?!
Post by: Rob FSO on February 11, 2010, 05:55:52 pm
This has been bugging me for ages.. ever since it was posted ive been trying to find a link for it... ive given up and respectfully ask for the wisdom of the HLP vanguard to aid me lol...

Im looking for this Orion reskin.. have looked on fsmods and not found nething, theres been no mention of it on here other than this pic...  is there another online dump other than fsmods?

if ne1 can help or even recommend some other reskins of other ships it would be appreciated greatly :)

Looks a lot like a Majesty with low ambient lighting.
If I'm not mistaken the Majesty originally featured in "Sol a History" and recently also been used in "Dawn of Sol". At least in FRED the DoS version has darker textures, making it much closer to the one in your screenshot than the SaH one.

EDIT: Wait, -Norbert- is right. That's ShadowGorrath's Majesty textures from the SAH graphical update. The one linked above is even darker (and the glowmap is a different hue of blue).

This is the Arcadia show here (http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l223/SpootKnight/FreeSpace/KentuckyFriedTurduckenHQ.png).

This is the Hecate from here (http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/ff348/tankermottind/hecate.png?t=1234149945).

Note, these require some knowledge of FS modding to actually use (though it is as simple as sticking them into the right folders and renaming files.)

Yeah, as long as they're in the right place.
(The support team would like me to tell you to make a separate mod folder and select it on the launcher, but TBH, you can just shove them into data/models and data/maps in your mediaVPs folder if you don't want to mess with mod.inis)

Can't you just replace the textures in Fred :wtf:

For the Hecate and Orion. But the Arcadia is a bit overdone. That one really looks like out of Tron.

Why should he?
For making a campaign sure, but if someone wanted to have that texture for every Orion in the game, you'd have to extract and edit every single mission file with an Orion in it.
Much easier to just dump the texture files in the corresponding folders.

anyone... god I hate that.

I just shove things in MediaVPs. If I screw it up, I start over. But that's just graphical changes.

Sorry for responding to this so late, but I couldn't see it over the grammar errors. Now, any problems with FSO should be dealt with by visiting the support FAQ (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=56279.0), looking if any of the problems mentioned there are applicable to your situation, and following the described steps to rectify them. If no solution can be found, follow the last step mentioned (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=56279.msg1180359#msg1180359) to get all the information needed for a post in the support board.

I don't have any FSO problems. I was just looking for that particular reskin, thats all. I would've thought that General Freespace Discussion would've been that correct place to post it.
Are all the red high-lighted words my grammatical erros? As far as i can can see they're mostly ok apart from the odd caloquialism and internet based abreviation. I'm pretty sure i got my point across without any confusion though.

I don't have any FSO problems.
You mentioned something about "the D3D compatibility problems". Which is interesting, since FSO doesn't have any compatibility problems with Direct3D. FSO does not support Direct3D, period.

Many people don't like Internet abbreviations. I, for one, assume that only teenagers use them. And decrypting them takes extra processor time, and as a result it takes a longer time to actually read what was said. And sometimes it's just too much and I get depressed and skip the whole post.
Also, new "Internet abbreviations" pop up all the time and figuring them out is a pain in the arse. It took a good while to figure out that "ne" meant "any" instead of "néh".

Ok good to know, I will have to crack out the English skills lol.
As for the D3D reference, what i meant was that FSO doesn't support it all and I've only just got a system running a compatible GPU.

Okay, High Max, nix the English class.  The point's been made and acknowledged.
